Guess what Associated Content offered me?

Well I submitted an article to AC mainly because I was curious about what they would offer. Everyone who knows about AC knows their payments have dropped drastically since they first began.

I submitted one article on one of the topics they were looking for. It was no award winning piece but I thought it was pretty good, though I may be a little biased.

So I checked my email to see an offer and I was surprised and had to look twice to make sure I saw it right. Yep, I saw it right.

Who wants to guess?

I hope you rejected that offer. You could post it on an article directory for traffic to your website or post it as content on your own website. Better than letting them have exclusive rights for 99c.

haha I guess netmalls was closest. They offered 99 cents!! I didn't know they went so low! I thought 2 and 3 $ was low for 400-500 word articles, but 99 cents???

They said they had a lot of "similar content" there. Guess there's bound to be similar content on every topic with all the articles submitted. And for a while some ppl were even trying to make a living just from AC.

Needless to say I declined. That is like DP wages. I will post it on my blog instead. It's not a bad article, but apparently there are lots of articles on the same topic. Then why were they asking for more articles on that topic?

In my opinion AC is a waste unless you happen to have a trillion articles there that gets tons of performance views.

    Hey Val,

If you want more than $.99, I was just introduced to textbroker.com through Warrior Essence's WSO "Give me 40 hours and 2 Dollars, and I'll Give You Passive Income For Life". He commented above. Textbroker.com pays $.01/word so your 400-500 word article would be $4-$5 in your pocket. If any of you know of another good resource, let's help Val out. Thank you.

That is just...incredible! I remember about 3 years ago I would submit an article now and then to AC. The least they offered me for an article was $8 and the most was $20. I know that if I submitted one to them today I'd get an offer just like you did.

I think they justify the low offers now by saying that they pay Adsense residuals according to how many views your articles get each month, but from what I hear it's still not worth it.

You might want to look at Constant Content.

They don't pay you up front, but you get paid when your articles sell. They can be sold with various rights. The top selling author author has sold almost 2,400 articles.

Depending on the rights you offer, it can be residual income because articles can sell over and over, but of course, you have to be good since you don't get paid if your articles don't sell. Worth looking over if you're confident.

Check out Bukisa. No up front pay; you get paid per view. Their current index is 3.42 which means for every 1000 unique human visitors, you get paid $3.42. The index fluctuates, but it beats the $1.50 per 1000 page views.

You could still submit articles to AC (for PV money). Write 2 different versions of the same article - 1 for AC and the other for Bukisa. Focus on hot searches in Google Trends & Yahoo! Buzz and social bookmark + ping them for traffic.

There is an article directory that lets you submit your own articles (not respun PLR or as is PLR) and they let you put your own price. You not only put your own price but say you put $0.99 you can allow it to be sold up to 1,000 times. Or you could say $10 for 1 person, or $50 for 1 person or anything in between.

All you do is submit your own writing.

Pays 1 a month via PayPal

The only good thing I can say about AC is that from the few hundred articles I submitted 2-3 yrs ago I've been getting monthly bonus checks for around $100 for about 2 years running now. Always nice to get a bump in your paypal acct every month for not doing anything.

Thankfully, at that time they were also paying some decent prices for content. Many of my articles were netting $10-$15 a piece. Today, I guess those same articles would pay out $.99. AC has really changed.

Well, this is disheartening. I spent most of yesterday afternoon looking through the AC site, as well as Constant-Content, and some Googling for reviews, etc. I thought it would be an excellent way to generate a little extra cash and residual income.
It appeared AC had more potential, but I guess not. I did think it strange they wanted so many articles that were locale specific, which would limit your hits. In the travel section all you needed to do was re-write a brochure for local attractions.
But, I still see plenty of AC articles in the top 10 on Google.
I still might submit an article or two, just to see what I get offered. After all, I don't have to accept it. What was the topic/category you submitted in?
    Thanks for the information, Valerie!

ACs plan isn't to hire writers as such, but to encourage more people to submit their content. They don't want to pay big bucks, just enough to say "we pay for content". From what I've seen, all sites like AC pay as little as they can get away with - but .99 is just an insult. Now, if you were getting .99 every time someone takes your article from their site to publish it, then .99 could be worth something.

If you're looking to make money writing articles, take a more direct approach and offer them to people who really will pay - like the media sites and site owners who are looking to buy content. Sell them as PLR. That way, you can repeatedly sell the same article instead of getting paid once.

Textbroker.com - Decent writers end up making 1.5 cents per word and up

DemandStudios.com - You apply, and when you're accepted you make anywhere from $5 for short, easy little articles to $15 for 'how to' articles around 400 words in length. When you take an article to write and write it correctly, you 'will' get paid.

Constant-content.com - You write an article, submit it, set a price and wait for someone to buy it. No guarantees your articles will sell, but there are ways to optimize your articles to make them as appealing as possible.

Dailyarticle.com - Same as constant-content. Write, submit, set a price, hope they sell. DailyArticle is great about payment.

Helium.com - You check out requests for articles and what clients are willing to pay, then write and submit. Once again, no guarantees the requester will choose to buy it.

      I have a question.
So is it possible that some of these articles wind up in a plr bundle. I would imagine that someone already has the idea to pay someone money for articles that they post on their site. (the get the original credit) they then sit on them for a few to get them into the serps. so the articles are doing for them what they are suppose to. then they just cram them into a plr bundle of articles using a pseudonym like Joe PLR articles get so many for x amount of dollars. This would seem like it happens as these people are paying for the content first (regardless of price) and tehn getting bulk pricing in return for the use of them. They would also be getting the SEO benifits.

I'd read where people were averaging $5 to $10 per article and figured..I can easily write 5 to 10 articles a day...and it would be sufficient for me to 'get by'.....but, at these rates...not so much.
I do appreciate the information about other sites. I've already signed up for a couple, just since visiting this thread.

    Ghostwriters International Article Directory

You submit your articles, place your own price and how many copies you want to sell, and then wait to sell it.

Once sold payments are made on the 2nd of the month by paypal, and because it is a small site if anyone can't accept paypal we will do the payment the best way for the person.

It is fairly new, and part of our ghostwriters international group.

This is turning out to be a really great thread with lots of good advice. Nice one valerie.

I had no idea there were resources for buying articles at such competative rates.

I have a question. I wrote a few not bad (if I don't say so myself) articles that I have used only in some blogs that I don't really do much to. Can you submit articles for sale that you have used yourself?

In fact, what about articles that you have submitted to other article directories, can you submit these for sale on these websites such as constant content.

The reason why I ask is because I have wrote so many articles that I have used on dud websites and submitted to A. directories but didn't end up doing much marketing for them. However, I reckon others could make something of them if they were to use them on a site/blog.

Maybe I'm pushing my luck here

Lots of good info here. I've never heard of lots of the sites mentioned here like textbroker. I checked it out and it looks pretty new. I signed up and you have to submit a sample article to be rated and approved. I submitted a sample article and was rated and approved the same day. I was happy with my rating. You are allowed to write on topics in your rating or less, but not over. But I don't like a lot of the topics on there and there's not that many to choose from.

But if you want to BUY content it looks like the perfect place for content buyers. You submit what you want and select the rating you want it listed under 2,3, or 4. 2 is the cheapest at 70 cents a word and 4 is most expensive. Textbroker rates you so the better writers get a higher rating level.

Then when someone submits an article you can either accept it or not. No risk.

Somewhat risky for writers though, because there is no guarantee your article will be accepted so it's possible you wrote for nothing. But same with AC.

Was your initial rating a 3, Valerie? From what I've heard, most people get that at first - even really good writers. That can get upgraded or downgraded as you work for them since each article is rates.

I use textbroker as a filler. When I have some free time, I glance down the list. If there is something available that I can write without really having to research, then I'll pop off an article.

5 is the most expensive level as it contains "professional" writers. For textbroker, I believe that means published in print but I'm not certain.

I use them as a filler too. One thing that impressed me about Textbroker is how they treat the writers. I accepted an article once, wrote it and submitted it, and the client claimed that I had plagiarized it. I didn't, of course, and I told the people at Textbroker so. They checked it out, agreed with me, and worked with me and the client to solve the issue--all while backing me up completely. I appreciated that kind of integrity.

They don't pay a huge amount, but at a level 4, and even back when I was level 3, it's perfectly fine for filling in during the slow times. It's also a great way to get your feet wet in the Internet article biz.

I had written an article a while back that they gave me 4 bucks for... but then I submitted something else and they offered $1.50. Either the article asucked (to them) or they're broke as hell... I guess the recession has hit them too

@Tina- I see you're experienced with textbroker. I just got approved so I'm a complete newbie and will see how it works.

@Droopy- I think I got around $6 for the 1st one I submitted. That was like 2 yrs ago and I only submitted a handful. But I never heard of 99 cent articles LOL Reminds me of DP-I want perfect articles for .50 LOL

I don't even know how AC makes money. Through adsense? Other ads? Anyone know?

I'm not sure why they keep lowering the article price, before this I can make minimum $20 perday from AC. Since last year the price decrease gradually and I'm not sure what AC planning for their future.

So, I had just signed up with AC the day before this thread appeared, but hadn't submitted any articles. I thought, out of curiosity, I'd submit a new article I just wrote for a plr pak I was going to do as a WSO. I submitted it on Sunday.
I just received AC's offer of $3! I don't know if it's the niche or if AC got wind of this thread! LOL
I think I'll accept and see where it goes. I also signed up with Demand Studios-thanks to this thread, and just got accepted. Still filling out the 'stuff' they make you do before you can get assignments. It looks pretty good, though.
Thanks for doing this thread, Valerie! It came at the right time.

But if you submit an article to AC, won't it show up in the SE's, as well as give you link juice and page views? So isn't it *in theory* better than eza?

Wouldn't it be really simple to hire someone from a poor country with decent+ english fulltime as a content writer, and submit the articles to AC with links to any of your salespage/blog/niche websites? Backlinks and direct payment?

Btw, I want $1 from WF for what I just wrote =P

EZA articles show up in the search engines in a lot more numbers than AC articles. Of course, that's probably because people generally don't keyword optimize their AC articles. It might be worth experimenting with keyword optimizing an AC article, taking whatever cruddy pay they offer you for it, and then seeing how quickly it shows up on search engines.

Call me a lover of instant gratification, but I'd much rather write an article and sell it myself for a one-time payment on popular forums, than submit to AC and have to wait 3 days for a measly payment.

Yeah AC is a joke. I ordered an WSO ebook a while ago for $40 which basically said to rewrite articles and submit to AC. So I re-wrote one article and got $1 from AC! Then just recently I wrote an article and submitted it to ezine articles with a link to an affiliate offer and so far I've made $40 from that one article! (2 sales at $20).

A site called MPAM used to pay $5 for articles and now they don't pay anything anymore.

Pretty soon, it might end up that AC will pay zero cents also.

You did better than I did, Val - I gave them some pretty unique content and not only did they offer some lowball figure(can't remember what) but told me I could increase the figure by marketing the article on their site! Market it? I sent back a whole page of HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - and never looked back at them.
