Sales dried up after installing optin form plugin for wordpress

Hello everyone,

i bought a wordpress plugin for generation optin form and pop up form fr my site. The site was already getting decent traffic and consistent sales before installing this plugin.

I though of capturing some of these traffic using an optin form as advised by some gurus.

However, it has been over 4 weeks since i installed the form. No only has my traffic reduced drastically, my sales completely dried up.

Let me mentioned here that in the course of installing the plugin, i had issues with it. I contacted the people behind it and they asked for my wordpress site username and password which i gave them.

I am beginning to feel suspicious about the whole thing.

Where has my traffic and sales gone to?

The plugin is a popular well recommended plugin. I decided to leave out the name for now until i confirm my fears.

Please, do you know what could have been the problem?

If you do, please kindly post your suggestions and advice.

This is actually my first successful online ventures and my heart ache as i watch my income dry up right before my eyes.

Is there anything fishy going on with the plugin?

or have i done something wrong somewhere?

Please i need your comments.

Thanks as usual.

Is it one of those in your face popup forms, that annoy the hell out of a lot of people?

I had one of them, that popped up every now and again - what i found was it put people off my site and they hit the back button.

This could have happened. Your bounce rate shot up and your visitor time went down and thus your site dropped rankings.

It could be a ton of things though. I very much doubt it is the plugin or the plugin creators that have caused the issue though. If they are selling a popup plugin and that's what it does then they have kept their side of the deal. How and where you decide to use that plugin though is up to you.

I hate to point out the obvious but your sales have dried up because your traffic has dried up. This has nothing to do with the plugin.

Work on regaining your traffic and you will regain the sales.

Not necessarily true - I think Romeo may have a good point - It could be visitors were put off by the plugin - I hate those ones that cover the centre screen so you can't read the content - and will often leave because of them... adding to a higher bounce rate ...meaning dropped rankings ....

If that's the case then you should be using an exit pop as it only displays when people are about to leave the webpage anyway. It's much more user friendly than a popup that displays just after you hit a page.
