What format should videos be in? (.mp4, .flv, etc?)

Hey Warriors!

I have several videos (HD) in Premiere Pro and need them to play online.

What format should I export them in (.mp4, .flv, etc)...

I actually don't see an option in Premiere pro to export an .mp4 so how should I do that?

And how should I make sure the video has all the "codecs" etc that it needs to have to play for the most people (use something like handbrake?)?

Thanks a lot.

.MP4 is the best option. However you may try .flv with a test video and see if it works (works in many players)

You may search for a codec/update for yours premiere pro to allow you to produce videos in MP4

I personally prefer MP4 but FLV will load faster online.

    Thanks guys,

Well I just discovered I do have .mp4 in my Premiere Pro ...it's called h.264 lol

There's a ton of presets below it I can choose from (Apple TV 720p, YouTube HD, HDTV 1080p, etc, etc, etc,)

What presets should you I use to make sure people can use this video online (they will be hosted in my s3 bucket probably and played with jw player, Easy Video suite, or something like that)?

Or should I export some kind of high quality video then run it/compress it in something like handbrake?

    MP4 is most versatile.

Look up what works well on iPhone, iPad, Android, etc, etc and try to convert to something that everyone can watch. (I don't have the exact details to hand right now!)

Programs like Handbrake and Any Video Convertor are ideal for converting videos.
