My 1000th post - so what have I learnt?

Hey Warriors!

This is my 1000th post so I thought I'd share my journey with you. I joined WF.com three years back after purchasing my first ever "make money online" product - Google Sniper 2.0.

It didn't make me any money but I saw enough potential to keep on going. The Internet is the biggest marketplace in history and although it's quite saturated - there is plenty of money to be made. Here's what I've learnt in the last 2 years of starting from nowhere to achieving success:

1) DON'T believe everything you read - It's so easy to get sucked into fancy sales pages with the nice house, Maserati, trophy wife etc. Take every claim with a pinch of salt unless the vendor can back it up with proof.

2) "Push button" software isn't going to make you rich - if it did we would all be millionaires. Software should be used to save time. It won't do the thinking for you.

3) Test, test, test - this is so obvious but I don't see that many people doing it. If you read a thread that says "I make $xxxx/month using this system..." don't take the sellers word for it. Test the theory out for yourself because remember - it's still theory if it doesn't work for you.

4) You don't need to reinvent the wheel - someone once said that to be successful you must copy success. That is - find someone who is rich doing something you want to do and COPY them. You don't need to invent anything.

5) Make money doing something you know about - there are so many offline skills that are transferable to IM. Use your current skill set to make money. I started out by writing photography blogs because I am a keen photographer. I knew the market and I had an endless amount of fresh content that I could easily utilize.

6) Don't be scared to ask for help - most people are genuinely good so don't be afraid to reach out. I have emailed 100s of people on WF and asked them for help. I love doing it! What's better then someone answering a problem for you?

7) Assume nothing, expect everything - don't make any assumptions in IM. Know your market, know your product. If you're selling weight loss products then research your target audience and sell to them. Failing to plan is planning to fail! By expect everything I mean expect everything - nothing in this industry is plain sailing so strap yourself in for the ride.

8) Use videos to promote your product or service - this is the one thing I wish I had done from day #1. Video marketing is huge and it's going to get bigger. YouTube is the second biggest search engine on the planet and a very under utilized traffic source. Make videos that are engaging and I guarantee you will AT LEAST double your conversions.

9) Enjoy the process - perfection is a journey, not a destination. Keep testing, tweaking and refining but enjoy it. No great business or brand was founded overnight. Success takes time - so there's no point in being miserable along the way.

10) Surround yourself with success - this is the most important. You need to believe in yourself and you need people who believe in you. If you are surrounded by negative people then cut them out of your life. They are a cancer and only sucking the soul out of you. Success attracts success.

I could go on but I think these are the most important 10 principles. If you're struggling then don't stop - keep moving forward.

The Buddha once said, "Face the right direction and keep on walking...". There are many paths to success. Find yours.

I hope this helped you today.

Spread the love.

Sanj.

    Hi....

Every now and then these types of threads pop up (ie. this is my 5000th post - here's what I learned). They tend to give solid opinions and tips.

This was one of the better ones. Newbies could speed up the success process by taking your 10 viewpoints to heart.

Congrats on sticking with it. It's important to get out there and do what you know works.

I love the part about not re-inventing the wheel, so many marketers think they have to do something new to have an online business.

Congratulations on 1000 posts. Your list of what you have learned is very good. #1 could apply to do not believe everything you read in discussion forums as well.

One thing I learned early on was watch who you take advice from. Your Top 10 list is spot on and should be relevant when you get to 2000 posts.

Thank you for these tips! The ones that really stood out were

    4) You don't need to reinvent the wheel - someone once said that to be successful you must copy success. That is - find someone who is rich doing something you want to do and COPY them. You don't need to invent anything.

At first I always thought I needed to create something that no one else had done before but now I realize that as long as my product helps some people it's okay, it doesn't need to help everyone.

I'm just getting in to video marketing now and it is such an exciting thing to be involved in. Definitely looking forward to how it can benefit my business is the future!

Thanks again for the awesome tips.
