Extract Cellphone Numbers from Email Subscribers

I'm creating a software that will allow to deliver ebooks, videos, and audio fast, straight to your subscribers cell phone right after their purchase by texting to a keyword. This extracts the cellphone numbers from your email subscribers into a new accessible database that marketers can engage with using this multi media platform via SMS(this would be permission based, at the time of purchase). Allowing online marketers to create and schedule video feeds to their subscribers cellphone list and/or send youtube channel updates as a video text. And do the same for themselves.

If i'm correct this should personalize interactions with subscribers, providing subscriber content on the go, improve survey response(97% of text msg are open within 3 minutes), create calls to action in your webinar videos(running text msg on the screen) or simply just deliver a video course/info product in a schedule manner and many more ways.

I wanted to get some opinions because marketing through this medium is not talked about much on online marketing discussions. Besides the benefits i mention, could obtaining the cellphone numbers from your list proof to be beneficial? This is the same channel your list communicates with friends, family and co-workers. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks

My cell has been the last place I don't get unwanted calls, so maybe I shouldn't be writing this. Although, with some many people dropping land lines, guess cell's are the way to get in touch these days.

Only my opinion, I would not be happy if sales people started calling my cell. But if people give it up freely, it's fair game?

There's a reason why opt in pages that include phone numbers have much lower conversions. People don't mind you sending them an email, but they don't want you calling them at what will mostly likely be at an inconvenient time. If they want to call you or sign up for the phone consultation, that's different.
Would you want someone calling you out of the blue with a sales pitch when you didn't request the call?

I wouldn't like to receive unwanted calls either. I meant a buyer can receive their content on the go on their cellphone if they buy a ebook for example. The focus is on using sms to deliver content and continue to engage with permission via text video with subscribers for example.

Once someone purchases an info product. They would have the option to receive it on their phone by texting in a "keyword" to receive the download link on their phone. This would retrieve their cellphone numbers from who ever would like their ebook on the go for example.

In addition to this message, buyer can continue to receive 1-3 messages per month as part of the opt-in permission based message. What you offer then is between the buyer and content creator. I'm not saying you have to mobile optimize your squeeze page and blog but i'm sure there are subscribers out there that would love to receive content from their favorite sources on the go. Better yet a valuable videos, ebooks, mp3 or whatever. Kinda like a text tube feed.

You need to make sure that the recipient is giving you permission to send them text messages and they need to know exactly what your planning on sending.

Otherwise, you will be breaking some FTC laws.

I agree, you need to make sure these people know they're opting into receiving messages to their phone.

Also, are you saying the software would take the number from the email accounts? I wouldn't recommend doing that. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

I think you have a wonderful idea for a software. Since mobile has and will continue to be the popular choice for most people to get online I think businesses that reach out to their customer base to offer discounts, etc via text are going to surpass and replace some of the current nonperforming marketing methods that are currently being utilized today.

No one wants unsolicited phone calls however, a text message right before quitting time that says "family dinner special 35% off today with this text" may be welcomed by many.

Texting is not a new method of advertising but the use of mobile devices for online purposes has peeked tremendously in the past 3 years and now the text to customer option will prove to be more viable.

I am looking for a mobile squeeze page that has a form that will capture telephone numbers.

Good luck and I wish your software was available now.

After they agree to receive content on their phone. This is when a database is created with the subscribers permission. Not just grab and go. Sneaky snakey ways are unethical and besides this medium is not like an email. It has almost 100% open rate so there has to be something to tap in.

When they agree to receive their product on the go, you display your opt in message like "Get your digital copy of List Building by texting "LSTBLDG," to 71441 on your cellphone for on the go access and receive up to 3 text message videos per month when our youtube channel is updated. Opt out anytime. Msg Rates May Apply."

or for marketers with large followings:

"Get you're copy of List Building straight to your phone by texting "LISTBLG"
to 71441 and receive personalized advise on your cellphone, 4 messages per
month. Opt-Out anytime. Msg Rates may Apply."

A lot of responsibility goes with deploying this method. And frankly, most IM'ers are just going to piss people off.

I will never in a million years give out my cell number, especially if it was part of a signup for some poxy IM product.
It's bad enough that email lists are sold, swapped and stolen.
Imagine your cell number shared among hundreds of lists, pretty soon you would be getting texts 24/7 from time-zones all over the world...
    NO THANKS

I wouldn't opt in to a source i'm not familiar with either. But if i'v been receiving emails with info i want and need from people i've done business with in the past, then i would like to be updated on the go, or better yet, words or videos of advice. I'm just saying... maybe it's more for younger online marketers and texters alike. I have seen a lot of coaching being done like Russell Brunson's from dotcomsecrets.com using it for his inner circle and others. Personally i like it for time management, i plan my days and weeks with sms reminders. Works like a charm..

That sounds like a great idea, but you do know that sms marketing is a permission based marketing tactic, and i'm surely you won't get that many positive responses.

My opinion for what it's worth:
if I have to give up my cellphone number to opt-in to your list - I personally will click away - unlike most people these days, my cellphone is not my tool of choice - it is used for emergencies but primarily for staying in touch with my son via text messaging.

GoDaddy got blasted by me for soliciting me via cellphone and I was told I could turn off phone notifications on my account which I did immediately.

I realize I may be a minority, but perhaps a vocal one. I give my contact details warily having been the victim of identity theft, ddos attacks, and other various unpleasant dealings with unethical marketers.

Perhaps I would not be your target market, but if I was, it would be a shame to lose my business by being too intrusive right at the beginning of my association with you.

From a marketing standpoint - I can see why you would want to do this - but on a more personal level - it bothers me. I do so love my privacy and will guard it as best as I can.
