Made 2 sales. Start building a list?

I'm testing out a niche as an affiliate, with a presell + CTA to the merchant's sales page. I've made 2 sales from 91 click through's.

The CTR from my presell to the sales page is about 30%.

Do you think this is enough data to indicate there is money to be made with this and I should create an autoresponder series and start building a list?

Or should I get some more stats and data first?

I'm using paid advertising at the moment and I have negative ROI, but I plan on using free methods as well to drive traffic if I go ahead with this niche.

    Why not?

    You've never really fully tested a niche until you've tested it's potential WITH e-mail marketing, have you?

    It's never too early to start building a list. Your existing clients are exponentially more likely to buy from you again/take your recommendations more seriously than someone who doesn't know you from Adam...

      What ever you're doing, it's obviously working. I would definitely build a list and continue doing what you're doing.

        Without exception, the marketers I've studied say they wished they had developed a list from the beginning! Your list is a bunch of hungry buyers and you are doing them a disservice by not telling them stuff that could help them.

    Always build a list.

    Even if you lose money on the front end (which hopefully you won't), you can still tap your list for potentially unlimited quantities of time.

    It's always a wise investment.

    BUILDING A LIST SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST!

    You are building a LONG TERM ASSET for yourself that way.

    Not just sending all your hard fought for traffic to someone
    else' business and losing them for good.

    I've made 2 sales from 91 click through's.
    While encouraging, you still have a lot more testing to do to see if you can get your ROI in the Black, and keep it there. When you have run 1000 through, then you will have a much better idea of the potential.

    Thanks for all the responses. I understand the importance of building a list as it can lead to more sales/repeat customers etc.

    The reason for this post is because I built a list in another niche and it was a disaster. Despite having about 2000 subscribers, the list contained lots of freebie seekers who just simply wouldn't buy. I offered value and thought I presold various products quite well.

    Building a list and e-mail series is time consuming, which is why I'm currently testing things first in a new niche to see if I can get some sales from paid advertising with a one page presell.

    Hopefully, I've learnt from my mistakes!

    I think many of the people posting don't understand what OP is saying.

    He is testing out a new niche, and needs to ensure there is enough volume and money in it before starting a list.

    Building a list, a sales funnel, etc.. is time consuming and expensive, therefore OP is right - you should test the niche first to see if there's money in it THEN do all of the time consuming stuff that will make you money. But the first step is to test a niche - if you don't know its power.

      That's exactly right . Before you run and start paying monthly auto responder fees , first see if you have something viable . 2 sales are a good start but nowhere close enough for you to start forking out more expenses .

      Many people sometimes overextend themselves in the beginning with costs and fees and than become disenchanted because they see their finances draining . Go one chunk at a time . See if u can get to a cash positive level with your sales with your current advertising methods . Than use funds from your profits to subscribe to and auto responder service .
      One step at a time unless you have deep pockets already and a clear goal and plan of how to get there

        Autoresponder fees are nothing in comparison to hiring designers and programmers to get a good funnel running for you. Custom made funnels that convert can cost anywhere from $500 to $5,000.

        That's why you should always test a market if you don't know it's profitable.

    Sounds like a pretty solid conversion on the sales page...

    Are you sending cold traffic?

    There is a lot of value in building in a list as you can ultimately market additional offers to these customers and thus increase your $'s per customer.

    Most people do this wrong though, and they just throw up a squeeze page... send a few emails... blah.

    A proper funnel should have multiple opportunities to improve your return on investment and fully capitalize on all of the traffic you're sending.
