Hi Everyone!

I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinion about sales funnels as everyone seems to have a different opinion on what works and what doesn't.

I'm launching a membership product at the end of March. The product will be a monthly recurring fee with 50% recurring going to affiliates. The product teaches people how to sell on eBay, Amazon and Sears.com along with a few other channels. The biggest portion of the membership area is the list of manufacturers that I have used in the past. There are over 5,000 manufacturers and a good portion of them drop ship directly to the sellers customers. Their is a bunch of other information in the members section that will help increase sellers profits regardless of whether they sell online or offline.

Knowing this I did write an eBook that talks about selling on eBay, Amazon and the other sales channels as well as marketing. It was written to help sell the membership. However I have been toying with selling the eBook as a front end with the monthly membership being the up-sell and then the down sell being a $1 dollar trial membership for those that click away rather than purchase the membership.

I am not so sure if that's the best model as I would think that it would be better to give away the book on a lead capture page which then redirects to the sales page for the membership site. I'm not really sure what type of funnel to use especially after my very first product launch kinda flopped which I think was due to the sales funnel as the eBook was the front end for $7 and the OTO was the main product. The product was a credit product which is in a very hot niche but it was launched as a WSO the upcoming product will not be launched as a WSO it will be put on Clickbank or JVZoo haven't decided which.

Any help and input on what type of funnel people would create for this type of product?

Memberships can be tricky as point-of-purchase upsells because buyers haven't seen what you cover in the ebook they just bought. Not to say it can't work, but it's a tougher sell than something like this:

Ebook (front end) > Videos (upsell) > Discount membership trial offer (downsell)

The best upsells I've ever used were complementary to the front end offer without being required to get enough from the front end product alone. That's why videos that show what you covered in the ebook (as opposed to just reading about it) are a nice fit in this scenario.

The $1 (or whatever) discount trial on your membership makes a good downsell because of the low cost of entry, which many will probably consider sight unseen before reading the ebook they just purchased from you.

Then, of course, you can push both the videos and the membership to your buyers list (those who only bought the front end offer).
