I hate email marketers

Yes i really do i dont like the idea of me constantly getting emails that are setup to come to me automatically and are just to sell me stuff and make the sender money, sorry guys but that's how i feel about it.

Now with that said i see so many people talking about it and supposedly making good money doing it and i cannot stop thinking that i need to do it many IM'rs say stuff like "The money is in the list" "You have to build your list".

But how can i do it when i hate it so much its like telling someone that hates telemarketers (everyone i know) go do telemarketing.

    Figure out what you hate about receiving those emails, and make sure you run your own email marketing in a way that you are comfortable with.

    I hate a lot of the lists where I get useless information sent out everyday, so I try to send out only things that I would personally find valuable. Even if it means I send things less frequently than other marketers might suggest.

    If you don't like auto-responder emails, maybe don't use that feature. It will require a little more work on your part, but at least you'll sleep well at night.

    Set yourself up to be the unique solution to people who think & feel like you do, and you'll have no shortage of subscribers (and customers).

      However there are a couple of other things to think about. First of all, yes, "The money is is the list" but that does not mean that your primary goal of using your list is to make money! If you focus your use of an autoresponder on using your lists to provide value and truly helping other individuals achieve their goals and dreams, then the sales will happen but not because you are "Ramming sales offers down their throats", but rather because you are helping individuals.

      Another important thing to consider is the fact that you may be fulfilling part of your destiny by helping some specific individuals change their lives in ways that are almost impossible to imagine! If you never send emails out to the people on your list, you may never reach the people that you are destined to help! While I agree that sending pure sales offers several times a day, on an un-ending basis is awful, Send value based content to your list can help your subscribers. Also remember that on average it takes seven or more contacts to make a sale. If you only send one email chances are You will never make any sales! After all YOU do want to make sales, otherwise you would not want to spend even a second working to build an internet marketing business!

      Finally and perhaps most importantly, please keep in mind that someone on your lists that is not receiving benefit from your emails can, and should probably, opt out of your list!

    I am on a few lists that e-mail you 5 or 6 times a day. It seems like if a thought pops into the guys head he runs and mails the list with it. I just have not gotten around to quitting them yet. Just total spam. Even the big time guys around here are starting to do it. Makes me feel everyone is so hard up for sales and all they are trying to do is sell you a nickel for a dime. There is a lot of trash out there especially in this niche.

      You can not hate Email Marketing as a concept, but the way it is carried out.

      Yes, if you get 2 emails a day from same marketer 7 days a week, it will be called bad Email Marketing practice.

      But you have to remember this is bread and butter for most email marketers, and they have to mail atleast 3 times a month.

      If you really hate some one, there is just one click Un Subscribe at end of each mail.

      But I do see some good Email Marketers not always trying to sell but give out good information, some times free.

    If you really feel this way... Just don't do it - but be aware that you are missing out on a Huge Opportunity, not only to make money but build a relationship with your audience and provide them with great value that could potentially change people's lives!
    There are always two sides of a coin and you can conduct any business with integrity and respect or not...

    The plain fact is, if you hate email marketers, get out of marketing.

    eMail is one of the best ways to engage and build a relationship.

    Lots of times email marketers will share their content/knowledge as well as affiliate product/product offerings; if you choose not to value that, that's fine! Get *off* their list.

    Alternatively, you can create a folder in your Inbox and save all incoming messages from a specific marketer to it.

    End result? You'll have full autoresponder sequences you can use for your own inspiration when you decide to try email marketing for yourself!

    Case in point - I now have approximately 700+ emails from WarriorPlus regarding the WSOTD. Headlines, compelling copy, the works. Been saving them now since May of 2012.

    Smart marketers *learn* from the best. Nonsmart marketers.... do not.

      Take a lesson from your hate of email marketing.

      You really don't want to hear from these guys that keep pestering you.

      Learn from your hate. Don't be like all the other marketers that tick people off.

      Think for a moment . . . what would it be like to actually look forward to hearing from somebody? You'd want them to send you:
      • Information targeted exactly to your wants and desires
      • No forced or hard selling
      • Only information that you have asked to receive
      • Information that is interesting, fun, sharable, unique
      • Nothing that was old, stale, re-hashed
      • The latest news, opinions, happenings in the niche
      You see, you hate email marketing because nearly everything you get in your email box is sent from marketers doing it wrong. You don't want to hear from them and all they want from you is your money.

      Bottom line is . . . market to others like you want to be marketed to yourself.

        Just to be frank you have come to the wrong place if you hate email marketers. For most of us this is how we build our relationships and our businesses.

        At one time years ago I was similar to your with my mentality.

        The thing is you can make email Marketing what you want it to be and then you can get rid of that negative psyche. Do things that contrast to what turns you off about email marketers

        Maybe setting up an auto responder and doing it just twice a week.

        Let your personality shine in these emails and get to know people who sign up to your List.

        You do NOT have to sling product every chance you get.

        Be subtle with it.

        Personally, Iam not a once a day email marketer. I prefer every other day.

        But just be consistent and give away free valuable material before you sell ANYTHING.

        This is not a sprint but marathon.

        Here is a formula I learned awhile back with Email Marketing and it helps with your general approach with it................

        1.Let get them get to know you
        2.then they start to like you (hopefully lol)
        3.then they start to Trust you
        4.then they start to buy from you
        5.then they are raving fans and customers of yours for Life

    I think it might help to distinguish between KINDS of email marketing.

    One strategy is to build a list and market other people's products to them on a regular basis.

    Another scenario is one in which you are selling your own product(s). In the process, you build a list of people you know have needs that your products address and who, presumably, like you and your products. Therefore, by letting them know about other products you or others offer that meet their needs, you are doing them a favor and your email marketing efforts will be viewed in that light.

    But whatever form your email marketing takes, people will always have the ability to opt out. No harm, no foul.

    That also reminds me of people here who hate OTO's and then wonder why they can't make as much money on others with their offers.

    You want to have an entrepreneur's mindset and not a consumer's mindset if you want to do well. Now, having said that, you certainly can look into how to do that without being annoying, spammy, etc., but ultimately I think it comes down to changing your mindset.

      I think to be successful you as an entrepreneur or business person, you have to have BOTH mindsets.

      You have to have an entrepreneur mindset to figure out how to market your particular business effectively, but if you totally don't have a consumer mindset, you won't get and / or keep customers.

      The consumers will see through this and will realize that you are only in business to make a fast buck without any concern for the customer.

      The customer on the other hand does NOT have to have both mindsets. The customer is always right and it's the customer that puts food on your table if you are a business person.

        I have to agree mostly, because if you've been in the online marketing industry for any length of time, you develop some sort of "email blindness" when you see headings like "These 10 steps will change your life and your business" or the (atrocious) "How I made $3,756.89 in a single day - step by step". To be fair to other email marketers, I do get a lot of quality offers and freebies by being subscribed to their lists - I mean, hey, in this day and age they KNOW they need to make it worth my while to be a subscriber.

        We have a small list for our business that we only use to send hand-crafted messages a couple of times a month. No autoresponders and no affiliate promotions. The snail-mail equivalent of email marketing, but our subscribers are happy and we connect with them personally

    Hi,

    You'll feel far better about building a list if you...

    1) Build a targeted list that actually wants to BUY what you have.

    2) Build K.L.T. factor into your marketing first.

    Once your readers KNOW, LIKE & TRUST you it'll be a far greater
    experience for both parties and you of course will make more sales in
    the process too.

    Create a 2 way relationship first and that way at least you know that your
    having an impact on your readers first.

    Just market to your people the way YOU expect to be marketed to yourself.

    Well traditionally the concept of subscribing to an email list was to get a newsletter of some value. This newsletter may occasionally have a link to a product or service. Anything else is spam or simple solicitation. People don't want to be solicited, they want information that is of value to them.

    You can only give the best answer. Think carefully about what you actually want. I suggest you not to do it if you really hate it. But still think carefully and take the right decision. If you don't want to irritate people, just don't irritate them by sending a lot of emails. Send only valuable information that you feel they need. Many people recommend email marketing. Because it works really well. GOOD LUCK ...

    1) Most marketers will follow the 80/20 rule. That is 80% of the time they are giving you free value in their emails. 20% of the time they will try to sell you something. Not to bad of a deal if you think about it. Tons of free value in exchange for just considering an offer once in a while.

    2) Email is nothing like telemarketing. You dont opt in to get phone calls, you did opt in to get the emails. Telemarketers dont give you free value 80% of the time. Email marketers (at least the good ones) do.

    3) My list loves the things I send them because they know most of the time Im giving them something they can use 100% for free. Also they are more than glad to look at a product I recommend since 1 it costs them nothing to check it out ,and 2 they know if they can use it and buy it, then I make a couple of bucks, which they understand that I need to eat to, and making a couple of bucks is what lets me have the time to give them all that free value.

    If you are thinking of email marketing as doing something negative to the people you are sending the emails to then you have a very poor idea of what email marketing (done correctly) is.

    First of all I think you need to adjust your mindset a little. You need to be positive my friend. Yes you are absolute correct that there are a lot of "marketers" out there that don't care about you and I but themselves and unfortunately they give the industry a bad name.

    Those guys will be lucky to do a sale with a list of a thousand people on it!

    email marketing is still one of the best ways to provide instant value for your subscribers and when done correctly is one still of the easiest and fastest ways to make money.

    Be good to your list and they shall be good back. Its as simple as that!

      To achieve your goals, try to follow a path you would enjoy,
      if not just do what's necessary.

      Forget all the 'follow your passion' stuff, at least

    Simply you can't now.

    Can you see a mindset problem here? You are in the wrong mindset right now and unless you work on it and reprogram your subconscious mind you wont be able to build yours which is a CRUCIAL aspect of marketing and very important for your business.

    Not exactly. The money is in the relationship you have with the people on your list. You can have a list of 30k subs but its worthless if they don't know who you really are. You need to be real, honest and being perceived as a friend. Its vital you make a connection with those people and build relationships with them.

    Well, be smart about it.

    Don't give away your primary email address. Have a few "catch" email addresses.

    At least you have the option of opting out.

    The WORST, is when you have to "login" in order to unsubscribe or update subscription settings.

    That's the type of Corporate email marketing that I hate.

    I prefer emails that are heavy on the information/education than always trying to sell me something. If I feel a little smarter or learn something new after reading an email I subscribe to, then it has done its job and I'll happily keep subscribing.

    I felt the same until I got onto someones list who was very helpful. That's want I wanted to be like. Think about email marketing as helping people who need your help. You know you're doing things right when your subscribers reply and say thanks!

      As long as the lists are opt-in (you can do double opt-in if that makes you feel better) and there is an unsubscribe link, then you`re not causing them any problems. They can unsubscribe if they click the link.

      Do you really hate being on mailing lists? Or do you hate being on mailing lists that are of little interest to you or have crap content? I don`t like most lists because I`m simply not interested enough in the topic. But if it`s a topic of deep interest to me I`ll subscribe to several lists in the same niche and read the mails.

      Don`t sweat it. People can decide for themselves whether they`re interested in your niche. Just make your content valuable for those who are into your niche. Nothing to worry about.

        just unsubscribe if you don't like the emails you're getting - but don't paint all email marketers with the same brush. I have subscribed to a handful of really excellent marketers' lists who actually give a ton of free info - their newsletters are like lessons, with just a little recommendation of a paid product mixed in with the great content. Those are the lists you want to pay attention to and emulate.

    Since the beginning of civilized man, sales have worked the same way... create a list of leads and market products or services to them. The technology might have changed, but the methodology remains the same. If lead gathering or marketing to leads is not something that you have a taste for, then you should probably not be in sales, but before you run for the hills, consider one thing... You might be on an exuberant amount of lists, because you are "in the business". The average user is not on a ton of lists and is most likely not as jaded as you are.

    As for receiving emails that try to sell to me... it's like Christmas morning every time one comes. I get to see how somebody else is selling, what tactics are working, and snag some pretty witty lines for my own marketing.

    I delete most of my email on a daily basis. Every now and then I may open one because the title grabbed my attention.

    I think email marketing is one of the best ways to get sales. Most people won't even open your email but there's always a couple of people on your list that will buy anything.

    Well, if you hate it so much... then my advice would be to... not get into it. You just can't do it unless you really dig deep and ask yourself, "why do I hate this so much... and is it just me?"

    Because the fact of the matter is... not everyone hates email marketing... I for one, love it. I'm on over 100 different lists, from various different niches and markets.

    I love getting the emails... it helps me keep up to date with what's going on... and I love knowing what other people are doing... and the products and services that are about to hit the market. All of those emails don't go into my main email account, it goes into a separate email account that I check maybe 5 to 6 times a week... so for me... and for many other people, we don't mind it.

    Yes, there's other people that don't like it as well... the solution for them is to not sign up for email lists.

    So really, if you hate it so much, then don't do it... but I'd advise first before you close the door on email marketing... to really search deep on this issue.

    Hi,

    I dont know how you feel about that but sometimes if you hate it. Just drop them off!

    But you need to experience why the say so. You can make money without a list.

    There is so many ways, adsense, PPC, CPA, Flipping sites, apps, games, and so on.

    But at last, building a list is most important things for a IM. Its a asset on your hand.

    So instead of just hating them, realise 1) it works, 2) Do not be that email marketer everyone hates and 3) learn from the best, and why they do what they do, and why it works.

    Reverse engineering the good email marketers is good for ones business, and before you say, there are none, that is not TRUE, I can think of plenty of marketers that email and do not spam and send lots of great updates, tips, tricks, and its awesome to be on their list.
