DO YOU FEAR BEING A BILLIONAIRE?

by theory expert Banned 49 replies
I just realized I have a slight fear to reach my multi billionaire goal...

I have a slight anxiety about it, and, I am subconciously already stressed about being somewhere in the top 45 of wealth magnates.

This is because I think I may cannot make it. The goal doesn't always seem achieveable to me. I know the constant work involved, the backstabbing, the meetings, oh the chaos!!!!

$300 million? CHeck as good as done.

A billion? Well er umm flip flops...

What should I do? Get hypnosis, see a shrink, join a seance?

    BLOOODY HELL ...NO !!!!

No seances , no shrinks or hypnosis

I too was afraid to be very wealthy

I was afraid i would become i would become arrogant .

I was afraid i wouldn't have real friends

But all that is a lie ...

Money DOESN'T CHANGE YOU, you only have more resources to express who you are

If you are a generous man, you have more resources to give and help more people

If you are a wicked person , you have more resources to hurt more people

Money is neutral ... It is ok to be stinking rich

Lets hope you do some good with it

Why do you want to be a billionaire? What the h*ll are you going to do with all that money, seriously? I mean, I have pretty high income goals myself but in my opinion, the main focus should be life quality. Would you feel great, working your ass off for 40 years to succeed with that? I would feel like a failure regardless of the billion dollars.

i truly admire your willingness to stick your neck out on the chopping block with this question. since most will never come close, you will continue to draw comments of angst from those who repress their wealth or greed or values towards money. you are correct too-money only magnifies more of who you already are. if you are a jerk, more money, bigger jerk. if you are generous, more money, more benefits to society with your resources. a billion is also in the very big picture, not that much still. people are crazy if they think bill gates or warren buffet were ever the richest people on the planet. the bankers of the world if they lost gates money, wouldn't even know it was missing. i am curious, are you already a millionaire? if so, have you made ten million yet? i stopped at 8 figures and took 5 years off and travelled the world with my wife and kids and lived my dreams-not money, being a dad, husband, and being with my family. now i am ready to go for a 9 figure result. if you have not made 8 figures yet, that is your goal. or 7. it is all the same thing to becoming a billionaire. most do not realize, they need to become a hundredaire first-then a thousandaire, a ten-thousandaire-all the way up to a millionaire. inch by inch it is a cinch. prosperous regards with your goals! i do not fear being a billionaire. thanks again for the great question. Why do I want to be a billionaire? Because if I am honest with myself, and if I take away my herd behavior, I know I want more than millions....i need more than millions. I've done the calculations...I have causes I want to dig into....people to take care of....but, I also, have a fear, the stress to rise above,be a trend setter, be the go to guy as an innovator, and, to having people want more favors from me.

I think as mant people fear success as they do failure. I think some people who think they fear failure are more afraid of their own success and what comes with it. Getting started makes the impossible possible and the dream a new reality... that's scary. And that's why 100% of us don't succeed in my opinion.

Well, it's pretty much outside of what anyone can imagine. If you're getting paid $2000 per hour, don't have any costs whatsoever and you're working a full time job, it would take you about 260 years to become a billionaire.

The goal doesn't always seem achieveable to me. I know the constant work involved, the backstabbing, the meetings, oh the chaos!!!!
That's the next thing, why do you need a billion?

I don't see how anyone could need a billion dollars for themselves, but if you have some grander social goal in mind, you might actually have a reason to drive you. Without extraordinary focus on that goal, it'll be almost impossible to deal with the problems and frustrations that come with the territory. "Almost", because some people, e.g. Zuckerberg or Branson, seem to have a much easier time than the typical Fortune 500 CEO.

What should I do? Get hypnosis, see a shrink, join a seance?
If you're serious, make a map of where you want to go, when, and why. Then look for ways to achieve it without selling your soul - for instance get books on other billionaires or billion dollar ideas.

If you haven't already, get your basics down, i.e., make sure you have enough money coming in to pay for suits, travel costs, conventions, etc.

I'd also suggest you get some basic books on raising venture capital, entrepreneurship, leadership and (regular) marketing.

In conclusion, get a perfectly clear picture of what you want, get a good map of the territory and then work like hell.

    Nice sig, btw.

...I have causes I want to dig into....people to take care of....

Let's just say, I need major money to make those social changes.

Also, wealth is all relative, what is alot to one is nothing to someone else. I am sure you've heard of millionaires who died living homeless. I know one guy died with a million and another died with $4 million. The guy with the million used to pan handle as if he was poor.

Well, it's pretty much outside of what anyone can imagine.

Hey, same here. There should be a thread for stuff like this, when I talk about my goals people always assume I'm crazy and/or lying.

        I hope not
What I mean is that I can map out what I'd have to do to get a million dollars - maybe sell 2000 seminar seats at $1000 with a 50% margin, but I can't visualize what a billion dollars is like. I either have to work with comparisons or growth percentages to get numbers that sound right in my head and can be used for future business plans. Some people just rely on faith that working hard will make them ultra-wealthy, but that's not my kind of thing.

1st why would you fear that? Do you think you'd enlarge negative traits that greatly going from 100 million to 1 billion? So, why wouldn't you fear 100 million?

And since you don't then you can see that your fear is unfounded and a complete waste of your mental energy. Don't think of a billion as all that much money. The people like Buffet and Gates are only put there for your enjoyment. Their are folks like Putin who have hundreds of billions. Then there is a level above that who are the people with real money.

So, since you aren't afraid of 100 million and you can see that 1 silly little billion is not that much money then what could you possibly have to fear?

      2. Don't listen to anyone who asks you questions like "what could you possibly want a billion dollars for" or other such nonsense. They don't believe they can do it and so want to pull you back down with them so they don't have to see you do it and have it rubbed in their face that they are the ones who are scared.

      3. Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

My only fear of being a billionaire would be the loss of privacy.

Since I doubt I have a true need to be one (though the car collection I could have would be amazing) I think the point isn't worth considering.

The only thing I would say to people is when you aim high make sure you are aiming and not dreaming.

Think of how many people flipping burgers dream of being a millionaire (or greater) yet when you come back tomorrow what are they doing? After a time you realize they are waiting for it to come to them because while they live in the now and can visualize being rich, they can't visualize how to become rich.

I know many people on this board are big fans of thinking and visualizing your way to riches. But that does no good without action. No amount of visualization will on it's own make you rich. That is dreaming not aiming.

And remember no one becomes an expert sniper by aiming at targets a mile away from day one. You need to be aiming at targets you can hit or at least come close to hitting as well.

Try to get hold of "Money is My Friend" by Phil Laut. It's a great read and makes you aware of all the negative connotations we have around money. It's very clearly presented and he gives you lots of ways to counteract your built-in negative feelings towards money – which, after all, is only a medium of exchange, nothing more.

    A great book.

there is a book, cant remember who is by but its called ' how the rich think'.

one thing i can take from this book is that fear is way low on their pirorites, hence the abiltiy to make money. Failure is seen as progress and they dont put a figure on how much, but they just take action. One things for sure, they dont need self-help books like the one above to tell them how to act, they already know.

In my past career as a Professional Bodyguard,I often worked for Billionaires some of whom ranked in the top 20 Richest People in the world. I spent almost 15 years with them and I can honestly say I would not dream of changing places with them.

Money brings, many problems and issues. Don't get me wrong it is a good feeling when you have enough money to take care of yourself and your loved ones but just consider:-

How many cars do you really need ?
How big does your house need to be ?
Is a $10,000 suit that much better than a $600 one
Do you need the biggest boat in the Marina.

    Etc

Then consider all of the constant lawsuits from opportunists who want to get something for nothing.

Then think about how you or your family cannot even leave your home without lots of pre-planning and then surround yourself with your Security Teams to protect from Robbery and Kidnap !!

One thing that your Billions will not buy you is "Time" its a commodity that we all own in equal amounts , no man is richer than another when it comes to time. Spend yours wisely my friends it is worth more than the Billions that you strive for.

Funny. I've bought time all the time!

I've bought a convenient place to live in, right in the center of the city, literally 15 minutes from nearly anywhere I'd want to go.

I've bought myself out of time-consuming tasks, such as social media marketing and backlink creation by outsourcing those jobs.

I've bought faster plane tickets and taxi rides when cheaper, slower methods were available.

Is the fact that rich people live faster lives really unappealing to the point of being denied?

The criticism comes from those who have not yet expanded their mindset to conceive having so much money. It really boils down to how much influence for good you could have with that big a resource. If the goal has worthy intentions then the tasks done to get their will be worthy as well. Wealth of that magnitude need not come at the expense of one's moral compass or their family's well being. Remember, fear is a liar. Our mind has much greater power than most are willing to admit.

Well, if you have loads don't begrudge the government a little bit! With a bit of planning you can reduce it to a bearable amount.

Back in the bad old days, in the UK, income tax was at 98% for the country's top earners. Happily it's not so bad now!

I see a lot of people bashing having that much money! Truthfully, I want to be a trillionaire. Why?! If you understand economy, then you know that past 100 million you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want, period. It's not about spending or whose #@$% is bigger. Billionaires create the markets you participate in. You have a job because of a billionaire. You have all of the books, and TV programs, this forum, cars, clothes, and everything else because of billionaires. No investments, no products or meager lifestyles that most have now. When you want that much money, you are saying I want to make world decisions. I want to be a part of a group that has dramatic influence in the world and industry.

The fear arises from self worth. Raise you value and worth and you will become more comfortable with the money. Also, you described all of those bad things associated with money. Truthfully poor people experience the same things. You attract those things when you think they will be so. Let all that stuff go and become the Billionaire that you are. You wouldn't have the desire if it was not possible!

I would feel like a failure regardless of the billion dollars.

Raise your value and worth and you will become more comfortable with the money. Also, you described all of those bad things associated with money. Truthfully poor people experience the same things. You attract those things when you think they will be so. Let all that stuff go and become the Billionaire that you are. You wouldn't have the desire if it was not possible!

I don't fear becoming a billionaire but I don't care for it. If I became a billionaire I would certainly be giving away most of it to those in need anyway.
