  • I want you to be the best you can be.

but, this has a tinge of perfectionism in it.
    sorry if I'm off base.

don't buy the guru hype of complete time management 24/7,
peak performance whenever I turn it on, the cultural ideal of the transcendant biz. man ! (i just made that up!)... you know "easy riches with no work online implementing a secret sauce or magic bullet? ... etc..,

    true story :

I beat myself up alot, that I can wake and every foot forward is the right one.

I read about victor frankl who survived a nazi concentration camp.

    he has wrote several books.

but he admitted. I'll paraphrase " at times I want to write and I don't have it"

remember what were told - have grand goals, But must be achievable.

make small improvements, not setting us up to fail and self-flagellation.

    Hey there LifestyleTrans!

We can't have the rainbow without with rain!

I'm sure you've had times in your life when everything is great and seems to be flowing easy! Money, Relationships, Happiness - No Problem!

Then there are times like you're describing now... You have that constant feeling like you can produce more than you are, you can be better than you are, etc. This is because you've seen what you have been able to do in the past! So we all think "I've been better than this, why do I keep letting myself down?"

Just take peace of mind knowing you are not alone on that journey! We have all been there!

Nobody really knows the mystery of "Inspiration". Why we are sometimes inspired and sometimes not? Why some people never get inspired and some people seem to have endless supply of it their entire lives... Nobody really knows...

Actually, funny thing, just today I started a Thread on what I found has worked best for me lately to be consistent... Pure coincidence I swear! lol... I'm not allowed to post links yet, but I just submitted it today 10/30/11 :-) Should be easy to find if you're interested...

It's times like you're going through that make you appreciate your successes! So just keep in mind, you can't have a positive without a negative!

It's just part of life, so roll with it and do your thing...!

    • 1590s, "firmness of matter," from L. consistentem, from consistere (see consist). Meaning "state of being in agreement or harmony" (with something) is from 1650s; meaning "self-consistent" is from 1716.

Be in a state of agreement or harmony with yourself ?

if you do 3 days, next try for 3 1/4???

      consistency reflects # of times
      # of productive efforts or time vs. # of ****TY efforts or time?

shift the balance, since it's not all or none, we get both. IMO

This is what I do to stay motivated and you can use this too.

I have a planner sitting on my desk with the stuff I need to do for the week. I follow that until the week is over then I write down the stuff I need to do for the next week.

I have a whiteboard up with goals I've set up and once I reach one of those goals I cross it out.

You always need something on your desk, wall, ceiling, wherever where you can just look at it whenever you're feeling lazy.

      Great post.

I used to do the Steven Covey planner which focuses on activities that contribute to the majority of important results. The activities are categorized as A, B abd C.

I understand totally what happens when we get discouraged. I listen to a webinar a couple of days ago and took away one very valuable tip that is totally working for me.
We all have 'lists' of things to do, and they pile up week after week until it seems like nothing gets done and I get to feeling discouraged and even worse!

I've printed out some weekly sheets of calendar from Microsoft Works and draw a line down the middle of each little square for each day.

On the left side I write '4 Things' and then make a list of the 4 Things I'll do that day for my internet business. Like blogging, sending emails, posting on forums, etc.

Depending on the day, these 4 Things can take 5 minutes each or an hour. Somedays I have more time than others.

Then on the Right side of my day, I put activities that I want to do for my 'life' outside of IM. Like take a walk, mail bills, call a friend, read, take a nap. These are activities that sometimes are 'work' and most of the time 'play'.

I've really noticed a difference already, I feel more content with what I've accomplished.

    Hope this helps someone!

Create a daily log of activities you would like to advertise and eliminate the activities that do not help you generate income. Follow the daily log like a manuscript to success.

During my good days, I wake up early, plan out the day, am in
a great state, feeling motivated, inspired, and taking action. I
am productive and get everything done that I want to get done.

But, I have a hard time keeping this up.

I end up having a bad day where it's the opposite. I feel lazy,
uninspired, de-motivated, sleep in, eat junk food, don't exercise,
feel down and in a low state, etc... I get NOTHING done.

It's frustrating, as it's not who I want to be.

I want to live my motivated and happy self every day - to be
healthy and maintain these rituals and consistency.

I find on a ****ty day, I am LOOKING for things to stimulate me,
like junk food, aimlessly searching the net, movies, and other
bad habits. I don't want to be thinking and am just trying to
    distract myself.

Is it possible I'm trying to distract myself from something deeper
going on that I don't want to address?

    Need advice!
I used to have a smilar problem.

You're definitely on the right track you're just slipping
    a little bit.

It's all about 'Habits'. You have probably had years of not
needing to be so self discipline, so your body is being
torn between your old habit and the new ones trying to
    from.

    Solution
Push through. It may take a bit longer than you thought
but you're forming new habits and you must take one day
    at a time.

Also don't just focus on what you want and don't have.
Spend at least 30 minutes in the morning looking at
all the things you do have.

    It will help.

This is really tough for anyone to do, and it seems that some people are better wired for this than others. I know that for me, I have to take a break and do some purely "fun" things to keep myself refreshed. Otherwise, I end up working really hard for several days straight and then find myself burned out.

I have heard talk of people who work 80+ hours per week, although I've never actually met someone who does. Personally, I think people who work that much are avoiding some deep emotional issue, and I really believe that they don't actually spend all their time doing things that really are productive.

Additionally, I find that if I'm burning out on something and can't do it consistently for 5-6 days per week, then that is probably what I shouldn't spend most of my time doing.

      Hope this helps

LifestyleTrans, you mentioned that on your on days you wake up early and plan out your day. I think it may be this more than anything else that makes it a good day.

My suggestion: Plan out your week. Take about an hour on Sunday to write down what you want to do for the week, and get really emotionally and mentally invested in it. This one hour (or two) will not only get your week well organized, but (more importantly) will fuel you with the mental and emotional stamina you need to carry through. Keep in mind though that the list is your servant, not your master, so don't beat yourself up if you don't follow it perfectly. You often won't. But it will always help to keep you on course.

Best wishes, and may the force be with you.

you're not alone as many of us have a similar problem, we fight with our bodies to do the right thing. Sometimes we fail sometimes its under control.
Keep fighting as your body does not accept change easily. Let determination keep you in the path to success.

They best way to getr out of this situation is to remember yourself every day that you to give 100%. Otherwise you will stay in this mood. Also maybe you should consider to ask somebody to help you, like calling you every morning and asking how it goes??

Don't get discourage, just remember to do the simple things at last, and do the tough ones at first, just plan yourself to do 2 or 3 things in a day and don't try to do all at once.

You will be motivated when you accomplish a simple task in a day.
