Please excuse me for being off topic -- but this reminds me of the "good ole days" back home growing up. We used to have block parties - close down a street for the night and the whole neighborhood would party. I wish we hadn't stopped dancing, too.

Great story. I hope they find a good compromise to end the conflict so that everyone can be satisfied.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with dancing grannies!

Stubborn grannies, perhaps. If they would just turn their music down just an octave or two, maybe they wouldn't have caused such a ruckus and a rebellion. Compromise really is a wonderful concept.

I'd like to see the dancing grannies invite the children, and teach them the art of dance. Maybe then the parents would become more interested and not so hostile if they came to watch their children perform.

I do wish them all of the best, though.

It looks like those grannies finally decided that life should have fun. Maybe it will start a new era.

One of the blocks around here used to get the entire street closed off for an evening every summer and have a picnic. My kids would go over to join the party with their friends.

To do it every day in such crowded cities - with the music blasting - no wonder people don't like it.

It's not the dancing people object to - it's the noise level. On the one hand, it's good to see the activity - on the other, it's a bit selfish to blast the music every day as they do. Just glad I don't live there!

I am now wondering if this might be some form of "statement" or attempt to change something. At least they will be staying fit and having a good time while doing it. I'm guessing we won't be hearing much, if anything, more about what transpires out of this.

You are so right, Kay, I wouldn't want to live there either, but just possibly they aren't doing it for selfish reasons, while driving others half mad?
