I typically use PayPal when that option is available.

I hate to say it but....

Paypal <I ended up joining. It isolates info, good choice.
Google checkout <Johnny come lately, so I decided not to use it.
Bank transfer <Generally too risky, so I often avoid it.
Moneybookers <I saw this as a kind of scam, and don't use it.

    Thanks for your opinions.

Personally I think Google checkout is more safe then Paypal, as you pay with your creditcard you can easily do a chargeback in case of issue's, with Paypal you never know with disputes and all.

Bank transfer wouldn't be my preference either indeed.

Moneybookers is pretty safe btw, cause they do business with online casino's people from the US are not allowed to cashout with Moneybookers, only allowed to deposit and send money.

The reason I did this poll is that I want to get rid of Paypal. I am about to start an LLC in the US and I heard that when you login from a european IP into Paypal that is on name of a US LLC that it might look suspicious and they are pretty nasty with the whole verification of an LLC cause of the virtual office and such.

Google Checkout is the only online payment processing service I've ever used which has given me a serious problem through an error of their own.

Moneybookers can also be pretty irritating, in that a 10-day delay seems "about normal" for them to reply to a simple customer/account-holder support request for information.

There are many things that "look suspicious" to PayPal, and that's why it's important to notify them first, when you're going to do anything in any way unusual, so that they know it isn't actually suspicious. I'm glad they have a very low "suspicion arousal threshold": it's one of the many things that makes me feel more confident and secure about using their service.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Moneybookers is indeed real slow with support yes, unless you want to sign up for merchant services then they are fast as a bullet all of a sudden lol.

Good point to notify Paypal on forehand indeed, then you at least know where you stand instead of getting scared to death when the account gets locked for 180 days.

My lawyer ensured me no one would have a problem with Google Checkout, blablabla, so that's why I started a poll to see how people really feel about it.

Maybe I should've changed the poll to: Would you NOT buy a service if you couldn't pay with Paypal.

Thanks for the link Alexa, wasn't aware there was a poll already. Funny thing is that no one in my country uses Paypal, or maybe 1 out of 100 people that I talk too.

I don't know about Holland, BUT....

When paypal started in the US, it was apparently the ONLY game in town!

Verisign didn't exist as a gateway!
Cybercash was expensive/difficult! REQUIRED TRUST OF YOU!
Authorize.net was expensive/difficult! REQUIRED TRUST OF YOU!
CCBILL, etc... were expensive/diffcult, and FAR from perfect. REQUIRED TRUST OF CCBILL!
Clickbank was like single purpose, etc.... REQUIRED TRUST OF CLICKBANK

And THEN, there was PAYPAL! CHEAP! EASY! Verification! *****AND***** they paid like $20 for referrals. REQUIRED TRUST OF PAYPAL. So it caught on like wildfire!

I dont really agree with cheap Steve (at least not nowadays, back in the days I believe you right away), most creditcard payment processors are a LOT cheaper (2-3%) then Paypal, Paypal charges around 5-6% on all sales that I make and that is definetly a lot of money. Moneybookers for example only charges EUR0.50 per transaction, I am not kidding, but cause they do business with the online casino / pokersites they got into problems with the US cause of their total online gambling ban.

If that wasn't the case Moneybookers would have been a very strong competitor to Paypal. Anyway, in my country we use something called iDeal, and it's only national really.
