I guess because that is how they view life. We will all die in the end but the question is, are all of us are ready to die? It might be one of the worry of some people.

So you're saying that since we're all going to die so we should just float around grinning because any other emotion is futile?

I agree that life is short but who are we to say that just because someone doesn't frolic in the lily fields they're unhappy or small minded? Happiness comes in many forms.

All kinds of people are necessary to make this world the interesting place that we enjoy. Even the miserable ones. In fact the miserable ones are the ones most likely to create beautiful works of art and literature. Content people don't create- Why should they? They have everything they need.

I understand where you're coming from but I think in your desire for a Zen-like world you're forgetting that without our idiots how would we know that we were smart?

And what I mean is that you are choosing to see things the way you see them. You think you see and understand reality, but your reality is an interpretation of what happens outside of yourself that is filtered through many internal filters.

These filters include your experiences, emotions, biases, ideals, beliefs, and a host of other factors, inluding the mental and emotional programming that took place before you were old enough to reason.

There are about 7 billion people on this planet, and 7 billion internal representations of reality. The one thing that is certain -- your interpretation applies to you, but only you. You cannot know someone else's reality without experiencing their unique filter set.

And yes, that is perplexing.

PS - Trying to force "our reality" on other people, or them trying force their reality on us, is one of the leading causes of strife in our individual relationships.

You mustn't forget that the whole time we are alive, we are continually being molded and shaped with the final outcome to be a masterpiece.

Either way you want to view it, whether it be God in heaven or life itself, we are being sculpted with each passage of time whether it be a day, week or month, etc. When you consider an artist creating his marble sculpture, he doesn't use q-tips to mold and shape, but hammers and chisels of varying degrees of sizes.

When an artist creates sculptures from gold, to get the purest of material, the heat is turned up so that the dross will come to the surface in order to be scooped out leaving the purest and finest to be showcased in the finished product.

If we all were living in utopia with nothing to burn, cut, chisel or strengthen us, we would be a useless glob of mushy flesh lacking the muscle to do anything productive in our lives.

You could even look at us as pottery. We determine the time we stay in the kiln by how we deal with the heat. If we don't deal with it correctly, we crack. Yes, there are a lot of cracked pots running around too, but the sadness in that is that they have to be ground to bits for the process to begin again.

If we don't recognize the flaws, we can never grow beyond them and some people are quite vocal about it. That's what you hear in the whining and some people ignore it and that's why life is about Hollywood and sports.

But the wisest of them, contemplate where they've been, where they're going and reflect upon the beauty of each step while preparing for the next cycle.

At all times people are in different stages of the process and that's why there always seems to be the whiners, complainers, the oblivious and the content and happy. It's about focus and understanding.

If I find myself focusing on only the negative, I always play this song to bring my understanding back in check, for I want my life to be a beautiful work of art when all is said and done and my days here are through.
