My thread keeps getting deleted

If I had to guess, I would say that it appears as a "follow me" thread and those are not allowed here.

Hope that helps.

Also, starting why my thread got deleted posts are frowned upon as they also break a rule. Speaking of rules, have you read them?

  Indeed. There's also the fact that they tend to either get abandoned (not so horrible) or run on forever. The latter would slowly take over the front page or two of each section, sucking the air out of the rest of the discussions.

I missed it, but what is a "follow me" thread? And also what is the "soapbox factor"?

I have probably been guilty of at least one of them (as we live and learn) ...but for future reference it would be good to know the meanings in order to avoid that, and/or recognize it.

John, "follow me" threads are where a member promises to keep updating the thread. For example, someone says they're going to start a new website and get it a front page ranking. So they keep coming back to the thread and posting about the steps they're taking and what progess has been made.

I believe the "soapbox factor" is a member using a thread as their "soapbox" to keep drawing attention to themselves.

Both can become forms of self-promotion very easily. If these kind of threads were allowed they can take over the front page of the forum, pushing current issues to page two and beyond before they get much exposure.

Okay, yeah I have been guilty of both of those at one time or another Im sure,but again, we live learn, and mature as Warriors. Glad to know the terms. Now I will recognize it in myself and others more easily.

Here's a twist: "Soap boxing". Can almost see the graphic of a piece of soap with boxing gloves on...

Too bad Im not a graphic designer I would just make one! Lol. Can you see two pieces of soap going round in a ring? Thanks for the compliment Dennis, its always nice to be appreciated.

I see that the decision of mod is not always correct. Sometimes users do want share the real info or get the ideas but getting deleted.

  They also see that, and they admit it very openly, of course.
  
  They're not superhuman: they have to be guided by statistical realities to which there'll sometimes be rare exceptions, which may lead to occasional incorrect decisions. Obviously they have to make very large numbers of decisions, relatively quickly, and often on the basis of incomplete information. Moderating a forum has something in common with "everyday life", there.

  Given your username, I'd bet against it. The majority of alleged "SEO" types are not a lot better than spammers, in terms of their contribution to the virtual ecosystem.

The deletion thing happens randomly perhaps? Maybe there was justification for yours, but my Harlem Shake thread got deleted - then again I guess there’s far too many people that like that song than I previously thought to have a thread like mine live. Oh well, I still think the song sucks.

Threads don't always get deleted because of something the original poster did. Sometimes it's because of what's going on in the thread later. I saw your thread. Half the posts could be considered self-promotional with people linking to their site, posting a video of their website, and so forth. There was also another thread with the same video recently. All that adds up to a thread that was likely problematic.
