Hi.

Does anyone know what type of RAM this is as I want more of it.

I know it's DDR2, but that's all. It's out of a HP desktop.

Thanks.

It's an old RAM with just 533mhz frequency. I doubt you will get a new one with that frequency. Currently RAM's run at >1333mhz...

Are you planning to add more with this current one or completely add new ones..?

How could it be any clearer? 512MB DDR2 533Mhz. Faster should work fine. But it likely MUST be DDR2, and straying from 512MB or adding more memory isn't a good idea unless you KNOW otherwise(from motherboard or system specs and/or documentation). That is true EVEN if there are other memory sockets.

The pc has 4 slots. 2 have a stick of this, so there is 1g of ram atm total. Windows 7 64bit. I want to put another 2 sticks of 1g, so I'll have 3g total. I'd put more, but apparently 4 g is the max it can take. Processor is Intel Core2 6700 (tm) @2.66.

I just need to know what ram is compatible. Some ddr2 is 4200, some is 5300, 6400 etc. This is where I get lost.

Also some is cl4, cl5, cl6 - what is that?

          It's a PC2 type of ram stick.
That is the type that will fit in your ram slot.

The processor essentially has *****NOTHING***** to do with it! 2*512=1GB and about the only intel processor that was made in like the last 12 years that is so limited is SOME atoms. AMD, likewise, mostly exceeds that. *****HOWEVER***** there are many PC boards that have a set limit that can't be exceeded even if the slots physically could handle it. The speed should generally be about the FSB speed. Slower, and you may need wait states. Faster, and it is more expensive. But you can NEVER go faster than the slowest speed. If your current ram has a given speed, the new ram can be the same speed or faster. Faster speed won't make your system faster though.

ALSO, on some systems, you can't mix sizes. That is motherboard specific.
