So what did you guys think?

I was impressed, and I'll watch it until it gets boring.

I'm a fan. I thought it was pretty good. Some rather subtle Marvel references. Did you catch the Journey Into Mystery reference?

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

No. I'm afraid you'll have to explain that a little. I don't think I've read Journey Into Mystery.

Added after I went to Wikipedia.
Oh, you mean with Thor? Yeah. And the Iron Man 3 reference....and a few more. Very well written, I thought. Some great dialog and smart laughs.

No, I was referring, really, just to the usage of the title in the dialogue. I believe the computer hacker chick (hot, by the way) said it at some point on the jet. Being a Marvel Fan Boy (TM), I was straining to catch any and all references.

I didn't notice a cameo by Stan Lee, though, but I assume it's coming.

        Oh, boy, ICSM.

You'll probably be able to watch it online tomorrow or so. It's worth looking for it, but you won't really be lost storyline-wise if you don't.

Hasn't started in AU, yet, but they are thrashing the ad's.

I have watched stuff like this before, with the Terminator series and the series ubroptly ended after they got stuck in the vault and time travel-led, etc.

So, not sure about this one, if they pile on the special effects then l might keep watching, but as others have said, it gets bogged down in soapie scripts, then l will probably be history!

From what l have seen, it may not have very good staying power, but time will tell!

      I didn't see it.

When I saw the ad for it, I thought of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.

      Oh well...

Yeah, I thought the dialog was brilliant. It was fast paced, and had a few great "funny" moments.

Clark Gregg is a real treasure here. In fact, the whole cast is impressive.

I knew with Whedon in on it, this would be great.

It hasn't arrived here in AU yet but, as has been mentioned, they have played tons of ads so I look forward to its arrival and hope the hype is worth it.

I like almost everything Joss Whedon has touched... I have little
doubt that this is going to be another Win for him.

We missed the first 15 minutes and then my daughter was being really loud asking to watch something else, so I could barely hear what was going on. Then to keep her quiet I gave her my Ipad and put something on Netflix for her to watch in her room, but by the time I got done with that the show was mostly over.

And even then I couldn't make out what those two Brits were saying.

I assume I would have enjoyed it if I could actually figure out what was going on. I'll have to rewatch it online now.

The two Brits are a tad mush-mouthed. They sounded what I imagine Richard Van sounds like.

Colsons tongue in cheek, smug nuances, seemed a bit much.Tried a little too hard to be cute,IMO.
I did like the IM3 tie in.
Whats the Rising Tide? Hydra? or just created for TV?
Due to a serious addiction,(read: 1 more box of bagged and boarded comics and the wife is gonna flip ) I have been out of the Marvel Universe since the Secret Invasion story arc.
That combined with short memory span, some of the finer details escape me.

Spill it, Dan. Whats Journey into mystery?

Without looking it up to get the facts perfect, Journey Into Mystery was a horror comic in the late '50's. Around issue 75 or 80 or so, the comic introduced Thor and was eventually renamed "The Might Thor."

Marvel brought the comic back sporadically without great success.

I only recognized the reference because my brother (significantly older than me -- probably Claude's age) had a few issues packed in a box I stumbled on once. He gave them to me and I eventually sold them for beer money in college.

This is not true. The only thing terrorists truly fear is drunk MidWesterners.

I didn't sell mine, but might have been better off if I had.

I gave them to my nephews about 20 years ago and told my sister to sell them to help pay for college when they went.

They didn't sell then, they are sitting in her house collecting dust.

With the reemergence of the TMNT they might could get a pretty penny for some of the originals I had.

They were all bagged and marked with condition and current value.
Yes, I was that anal about them.

As a ten year old, I remember cutting out the drawings of Superman in comics, pasting them to cardboard, and pretending they were flying around the house. I remember tearing off the covers to Iron Man #1, Silver Surfer #1, and several issues that today, would sell (in fine condition) for several hundred dollars on E-Bay.

And that is why I should be burned at the stake.
