If You Had to Take an Extraterrestrial to See a Movie...

...a movie that in your opinion best summed up life here on planet earth, what movie would it be?

My pick would be It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

A dying crook tells a disparate group of people where they can get their hands on a huge pile of loot. Crazy with greed, they lie, cheat, steal, kick, punch, eye-gouge, and try to run each other off the road in a frantic effort to get to the hidden stash before everybody else. They fail disastrously to achieve their goal, and many of them end up in traction in hospital, facing serious jail time.

Not only does that sum up life on earth but online marketing as a whole. I mean, my synopsis reads like a WSO and its aftermath. Am I right?

Well now, there's a creative question. I'm not sure what movie it would be, but I'd want to show them something that showed humanity's best characteristics as well as our lesser nature.

I take it that you two won't be seeing Debbie Does Dallas.

Well, if I wanted to mess with the Alien, I'd take it to see Inception. If I wanted it to get a warm fuzzy feeling about Humans, I'd go for the Christmas movie, It's a Wonderful Life. If I wanted it to understand the damned trouble we're in and how much help we need, I'd take it to the documentary "Seeds of Deception". If I wanted it to get a picture of the silly side of our nature it would be Lampoon's 1941 or Animal House.

Take them to a movie where the Earthlings kick the butt of the aliens OR maybe a Star Trek movie where everyone gets along in the same crew.

Seeds of Deception would be a good one because it would show the alien that, while scientists often save the world in sci-fi movies, in reality they do exactly the opposite by stuffing up such things as the planet's food chain.

Well ya got to remember that when we smacked down the Hilter Regime, all his scientists were given free passage to the US where they continued to work in their fields. Very gifted intellectually - but bizarrely twisted mentally. Yep, we have some scientists that make Frankenstein look like a boy scout.

Ironic, since I have a feeling it was science that got the aliens to Earth in the first place.

It would have to be "The Day the Earth Stood Still"!

The old classic, not the BS modern one!

It would at least show, that some of us, have some intelligence!

If you took an alien to a movie about people of earth fighting off an alien invasion....would the alien think it was a comedy?

I'd take it to see the movie Titanic just to see if it would cry.

If it did, I would ask it out on a date again.

If it didn't, I'd end our relationship immediately. :p

            "It" and "date".

I've probably had girls use those same two words in the same sentence after a date with me.

        Or . . . nothing.

I would totally bamboozle the ET with a film called "Nothing", where the entire world (outside of a house) has vanished.

Spiffy. It reminded me of The Cube movies. I thought the first one was absolutely mind boggling.

            Spiffy? lol!

That sounds like something Richie Cunningham from Happy Days would say. It'd be right up there with jiffy (not the peanut butter or popcorn) and skivvies.

            I haven't heard that/those word/words in absolutely years.
