Home Security Sales Telemarketing?

Hey folks, I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about successfully selling home security systems over the phone.

My deal is free equipment, free installation, and free first month. The only cost is $39.99 per month on a 3 year contract.

A script for outbound telemarketing or way of generating inbound calls at a reasonable price would be awesome.

Stories from anyone thats been successful in this space would be great to hear, too.

      'cause I could pick up the phone and say "hey, free home security system, $40 a month. You want it?" to 1000 people and make a few sales.

      I could also say say something proven to work and close sales at a much higher rate than a few out of a thousand.

      So to answer your question, nothing. I do, however, want to go about it intelligently to make as much money as quickly as possible.

    Qualify first.

    Have they just moved into a new home? You can get this list.

    Did they just sell? You can get this list, and prime them for when they're in their new home.

    Was there a break-in in the area? You can get this list.

    Did another security firm make a sale, and have the buyer put one of those little lawn signs up?

    Think about "What do these people do right before they need a security system?"

    Then call to qualify. Confirm they just moved, just sold, knew there was a break-in, saw their neighbor bought a system, whatever it is. And have they thought about a security system?

    What do they know about security systems?

    What are their prejudices about it? What do they think they know that is false? True?

    Can you educate them a bit at this point to differentiate yourself?

    See how this is different from launching immediately into a "Buy My Alarm System" pitch?

    believe it or not, I did this door to door sometime ago, why dont you tell me more about it? I was looking to get into this but at the moment I have 0 start up capital. If you need someone to sell for you let me know, I am from south florida, and understand the basics of the business given my uncle was an installer for several companies some years ago.

    seriously doubt you're going to get money over the phone. I could be wrong, however, being in this market myself, most folks want to meet face to face before they hire you.

    It is home security, so these people aren't just going to hand you money with a promise over the phone.

    If it's your brick n mortar business, you're going to have to work; and work hard.

    Sounds like a great way to make a lot of money and then get sued in multiple class action lawsuits and have the FTC come after you. People do this and make lots of money and then get sued...a lot.
