Free Mobile Presentation

In another post Mac gave us some good advice

Ok, who here does NOT have a smart phone? If you don't, well, what the hell are you doing man???

Anyways...this tip will get you a ton of sales which can lead to upsells and of course referrals.

If you have an appointment with a client, simply ask what their website url is. While you are speaking with them, simply pull their site up. Chances are, they won't have a mobile solution...simply say "Oh no...I didn't realize you didn't have a mobile friendly website...we need to take care of that asap." or something along those lines. Don't ask them them, tell them. You will be doing them a FAVOR! Most business owners don't even have this on their radar but when they realize how cost effective it is as well as how many people are using smart phones to access the internet (which you can surely provide them) it is a no brainer.

Now, you DON'T have to have an appt for this to work...I have done it at networking events while speaking with folks...it actually works a little TOO good...kinda unfair advantage...you don't want to make them feel stupid of course, only in that this is an oversite and you can remedy it for them...this works for facebook pages as well of course...

I scanned the QR code. I must say, very nice job, Quentin!
So do you use this as a slide presentation when you are on an initial face to face with a prospect?

I actually read Macs post while I was at a business meeting so through it together to try on some of the attendees.

I think it is not just for meetings but something you could whip out anywhere.

good job on the presentation Quentin

what might be effective - i am going to do a couple of pages/slides at the end first showing a mobile site with active click to call button that points to my phone and then the next slide/page shows them what its like viewing a similar site but as a regular non mobile site... and how difficult it is to find the telephone number and zooming in for the same info etc... then simply saying which do you think your customers would prefer...

I have also found demonstrating by example is typically a deal closer!

    hope that makes sense

    cheers

I have a great presentation I do on my iPad, I will share it when i get back to my other computer if there is interest. One of the slides has a video that I customize for each client I land a meeting with. Here is the example of what I let run while I speak about the differences between mobile and web based sites. I find that they are more able to understand when they can see the difference visually.

Great presentation there Quentin and thanks for sharing that! Personally I love the stats and graphs shown, but do think citing the references would carry a little more weight when presenting and also cover yourself for any legal reasons like Will mentioned.

@Socialmediaking - LOVE the side by side comparisons you've done and next to showing them their site on their own phone, this is probably the best way to show them the benefit to a mobile site. Nice job!

Nice video and presentation. What did you use to make that video by the way? Any tips on how it can be done to be like yours with the two screens there? I assume there is no sound or voice cover since there was nothing present when I played it.

    Guys,

Just be careful using such a presentation as you don't have the rights to be using all those images. Best to have your own images created that represent the same information. I don't want people thinking they can just go around using images they find all over the Internet - it's not a good habit to get into.

You've killed it. That's awesome and that is EXACTLY the type of presentation that is going to get you clients.

Statistics and data are great, but nothing works better than showing the client exactly how a mobile optimized site will work for AND benefit them and their customers.

As you've shown in the video above, this stuff is not just limited to face to face meetings. You can still get the same message across using video. Using the two screens next to each other is the best visual representation you could provide.

    Top stuff!

    Quentin,

If I may be so bold, how much do you charge your clients for your services ie mobile websites? I am actually looking at your product now. Additionally, what is your preferred tie-in for recurring income? If you don't want to share this here, I understand.

Thanks for all you HAVE shared though, I dig it!

I charge my clients around $350 and if I host it on a .mobi domain charge $9 a month. If they want it on their own site I charge a bit more.

I actually use my mobile sites as an entrance product and then go for their main site

This is awesome, thanks. I also like SocialMediaKing's VISUAL, no spoken words pres. and both can go well together.

This is perfect for tablet or laptop and you can create your own script to match. Excellent. I would show Q's pres with stats, etc, then lead into Social's video.

Show them presentation. THEN grab your Sphone and show THEIR site on phone. Even offer to demonstrate on their own phone. This is strong and has been the convincer for me on many occasions! Reinforce their shortcomings and the benefits of being optimized.

    Now, assume the sale!

    1. With either presentation (or combine both) Create a last page on presentation that has a simple order form and link to paypal
    2. Create a return page and add your autoresponder, link up with paypal.
    3. Begin asking for the info to start your clients site. (You) fill out form, then hand over your laptop/tablet to biz owner to complete payment and ask them to "continue" in paypal.
    4. Direct them to complete your form so you can keep in contact with them and provide valuable tips so they can get the best use from their new mobile website.

Talk about biz in a box! This is all you need people. Don't over complicate.

Of course you can also flip it around for a softer sell and icebreaker. You ask if they have a website. Why yes we have a site. You look it up on phone and then state the problem you see with formatting. Then pop over to presentation and show them how it can be fixed!

Quentin, thanks for the great info! Also, do you use this product as a lead in for any recurring revenue? I do a lot of social media stuff, and I don't really encourage that folks put a ton of time into their own websites until they have a solid social media presence happening as they can get conversion right from Facebook and Twitter, just wondering your take. Also, do you allow others to use you for outsourcing, or is it not profitable because of pricepoint?

We actually use our mobile websites as an entry point for their main website where most of our residuals come from.

For mobile websites we use .mobi domains and hosting for residuals.

Yes we do some contracting for clients.

        Hi Quentin,

You mentioned that you're using .mobi domains for new mobile sites.

Are you finding it necessary to provide separate SEO for these separate .mobi domains, or are the mobile sites still benefiting search-wise from the client's desktop "parent" site? I'm still not quite sure how this works, as opposed to using the sub-domain method. A guy on another thread proposed the idea that using .mobi domains enhanced search results on Google mobile...any thoughts.

Also, it makes me wonder about duplicate content issues. Do you think that this is anything to be concerned about?

Anyway, you have a much better grasp of such matters than I do and I'd love to hear what you have to say about these two subjects.

        Thanks as always,

Thanks for the slide and video - they both look awesome!!

Will definately have to try getting a video sorted similar to this - or even a powerpoint presentation. Not really tried a video before so it'll probably take me a while.

Great ideas though - keep em coming,

    Thanks,

Very well done and thanks for sharing the presentation as well as the backend HTML files! I love when folks actually share something of value rather than just asking questions! I was the give me, give me, give me guy for a long time, but recently I've been trying to give back to the Forum. Thanks for leading by example!!

In most cases I use a subdomain Gerry specifically m.domain.com.

The only time I use mobi domains if the customer requests it and I want to charge a hosting fee.

Duplicate content is not such an issue with using either of these methods.
