Hi Warriors,

I have a client who would like a mobile site - nothing strange there, however I have done some research on his standard website (which is nothing special, no real Keyword density, no H1, H2, H3 headers etc - no real on page SEO as far as I can see), however he is sitting at the top of Google for the keywords 'Garden Services Birmingham' 'Garden Maintenance Birmingham' and the derivatives of those!

He is even above the Google Places Listings!!

I have checked Alexa and he has 4 inbound links (all from UK directories such as Yell.com).

I am completely gobsmacked as to how his site is sitting on Page 1 for those Keywords - My brain cannot compute how this is happening!!:confused:

Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Cheers
Scott

Not really....the domain name is (first name)gardenservice.co.uk.

Work that one out....I still can't get over it, lol.

Extremely low competition or old domain.

That doesn't sound like a competitive term but what do I know about Birmingham? Nada

Competition is medium according to Google Keyword Tool but not sure how old the domain name is!!

Don't think the term is that competitive to be fair, it just amazed me how it is on page 1 when none of the keywords are in the content of his site...crazy!!

Oh well, was just some food for thought anyway!!

They could also have more links that Alexa isn't showing, but I agree with the others, the competition is probably pretty low and the keywords are in the TLD which does help.

Nothing new here - a site does not have to be much to rate for business type/location search - especialy for searches that prompt a googles places pack and if the site has search term or synonym in site name - and 4 directory listings is good juice for local search!
And an older site will do well - even without much seo

but has key word in title (more imortant) - and google is good at using synonyms for search data

Could it be that this is his second business website, and the first website has a 301 redirect and is passing all of the link juice to the new site.....

    Just a thought.
