Video Email for Prospecting

Anyone uses video email for prospecting? I'm starting to do this so if anyone has anything good to share, let me know.

One thing I think needs to be overcome is how to get the video to actually show up on email when many people may have images not displayed automatically. Know any way to overcome that?

Also, for those who use video email, how do you do it and what programs do you use?

Thanks.

I send screencasts that I've uploaded to youtube as an unlisted video. I always use the embedded link so that when they click the link it doesn't go to the regular small youtube video, but to a large full page HD version of the video.

I don't know how to make the video show up in the email.

I have just started to do this, and I've learn that making one off videos that are specific to each client is a HUGE WASTE of time. I'm going to take a day and make general videos for every niche I want to target.

I will also purchase an email list for each type of business - plumbers, electricians, etc...

Anything done over email is going to be a huge numbers game, so having your own mass mail software is vital--- Load and Blast!

Some will say that unsolicited email is illegal -- They are idiots! CANSPAM tells you exactly how to make your mass mail legal. Read up on it.

    That's all I have.

I'm going to try this plus a reseller seo service, so that I can automate the whole process.

Unsolicited email isn't illegal, just scraping and mass emailing unsolicited emails.

I can't add anything though, sorry. I don't know of anyone that is successful using email as a primary way to get clients, let alone video emails. People will say they do but I doubt it.

    Hey Jon,

I had a thread about this too just a couple of days ago lol I found it to be super effective in getting a reply from clients and creating a "WOW!" factor when the client actually views the video.

    Here's what I do:
I used to use Screencast but there is a limitation on your monthly bandwidth. So I now house all my videos as unlisted on Youtube and shoot the videos with Snagit. I initially started with Jing but with the 5 min recording limit, I couldn't fit in everything I wanted to communicate (yes, I'm a rambler at times lol). Snagit is awesome, one button and you're uploaded to Youtube or Screencast.

I then just include the youtube link in the email. I find that easier and faster than trying to make a clickable image linked to the video.

@I_AM, I've made ALOT of videos..and yes it can be time consuming but I've found the return to be very much worth the time I've invested. Not only does it help to position yourself as a professional but when you actually reach out to them again--I find they're always raving and loving the video! I guess it depends on how qualified the prospect is and if it's worth your time..but there's no doubt, videos=very effective marketing tool!

Preeti, were these one-off videos specifically made for each company?

I have landed clients this way. It does work. Like cold calling, it's a numbers game. I have landed some big clients (by my standards) this way.

Haven't done it in a couple months because I have been busy.

I have also sent out over 400 personal videos. Some say I waste my time, but it has paid off. It took awhile, but yes, it absolutely works.

Ever try a video email service like mailvu or openmyvideo? You can put in you own logo, etc. and the service tracks how many people open and watch the video. You could also put in Google analytics.

If the email recipient can receive html emails, your video is right there displayed in the email and they just click play. If they can only receive text, the link is there for them to click and watch (links to your video email service).

Also, each video email has a "box" for normal text so you can write out a message as well. Pretty cool stuff.

You can use a service in a very limited way for free (like a 1 min. video and up to ten emails -- or something like that), but I would recommend getting the monthly option ($30 or so) for all the bells and whistles (up to 10 min video and unlimited emails -- or something like that).

Just Google "video email" and all the different services come up.

I just got an interview from one of my Video Email recipients. I actually had to call and mention that I sent the video. She said she would watch it and call me back in 15 minutes. An hour later, she called back saying that she watched half of it, and would like to setup a meeting.

I can see something like sending a video, and then calling would work.

I use Screencast-o-matic for like 7 bucks per year and I love it. Lots of editing options and there is an option to upload right to youtube. In just a few minutes I can record, edit (usually the audio portion), and have uploaded to youtube.

Have a look at two services I would recommend:

    Jivesystems and MojoVideoMarketing

Both are clients of mine so, of course, I recommend them. So, when you have a look, make your own decision (obviously).

All in all......the bottom line is that at this moment there isn't technology out there that will really show "real" video emails all the time. It's really dependent on the email client. HTML5 is awesome and you'll notice that gmail will play embeded videos in your email. Email clients supporting HTML5 will all do this. Unfortunately, you can't control how your visitors view their email.

Both Jivesystems and MojoVideoMarketing do have some really good training about this entire subject.
