Ideas For Marketing A Sales Trainer?!?

Hey Warriors,

I have a client and I'm working on putting together a marketing plan for a client who is a local sales trainer and is putting on free workshops/seminars for sales people in my city.

He's looking to attract professional sales people, business owners to come out to the free workshop and then convert them to sign up for his paid sales workshop.

My question: I have some ideas about promoting these free workshops like using PPC, LinkedIn but just wondering if anybody else has done any online promotions for a sales trainer and what methods worked best?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help!

    Hi,

Which area is of your client. I mean which area are you targetting. You can target FB, Twitter, Forums, Pinterest if you images and other stuff to put there. The best way to do this is by FB put you content and share it to your friends and ask them if they can share for some profit.

Call any number of the larger auto dealers, insurance agencies, real estate companies. These are operations that usually have a need for some kind of ongoing sales training.

The operative word in the above statement is "call".

Thanks Mayankgangwal for the FB tip, that would be helpful no doubt!

Btw, notice you're from Plano, TX--I was there a couple of years ago, nice place! Love that big mall there with the indoor skating rink and the Cheesecake Factory (mmm...red velvet cheesecake LOL).

Go to local Chambers of Commerce and offer to do a free seminar for them or just join and supply everyone with free printed report about sales. No selling, just good content and then after it he should have some interested people coming up to him.

This is what I do for a living. The whole one WSO I wrote is how to bookseminars. It is very inexspensive for the info I give. If you cant afford it I will donate it to you. The answer isnt a simple one so i just wrote a report.

Here is a little of it:

In this report I am going to show you step by step how you can do it!!

When you are done reading this report you will be able to use the principles and techniques I use and begin collecting checks in your very first week!!

You will be able to average over $2300 per week. Yes even in your first week! I schedule 6 weeks to book each seminar. If you will calculate you will notice that I am only using my lower numbers. 6 weeks X $2300 = $14,000.
To be honest with you about my numbers, I only have a $14,000 seminar when I work 3-4 weeks of the 6 weeks I schedule, this is usually due to bookings of in house training, or the booking a contract of my recruiting and hiring services that I now provide.

They have both cut into my actual time cold calling face to face businesses. I will soon have to hire a salesman to book seminars for me, which is an option some of you might want to consider. Though your profits are cut into anywhere from 30%-50%.

My very first seminar I used all the techniques I am about to teach you and I booked 107 attendees at $350 average per ticket sold. 107 attendees X $350 per ticket = $37,450. I did that in six weeks of face to face cold calls to companies.

Again, that was my very first seminar. I am into my third year of doing this and now want to share my wealth and experience with you so you can make over $37,000 your next seminar. NO matter what you are selling!!

Also If you book seminars or are interested and/or know anyone interested in booking them. I pay up 50% commissions. I dont like traveling to far to pitch a seminar but am willing to come teach one anywhere and pay the sales person well. Average $100 to $150 per ticket. I am looking to train others to pitch seminars now and get off the road, to many other business plans to tend to, but still want to do public speaking. The first seminar I actually pitched was for another person and so my end was $17,000. I only did that to learn how to do it then started doing my own. But I am now to the point my time is better spent paying the high commssion.

Thanks Michael for this! Definitely interested in checking it out as it's exactly what this clients want help with (booking his seminars), so this is perfect!

Thank you for the generous offer for the free copy but I totally trust that your WSO will give value and help in booking some solid seminars for this client of mine--so I'm more than happy to pay!

      Thanks for weighing in here!

I would have him put together a free guide to get opt-ins. It's great way to build a strong following over time. It will help all of your other advertising bring more opt-ins.

This is pretty amusing, the sales trainer unable to market oneself.

Well I'd go after symptoms. Find people who are:

    * frustrated that price keeps coming up as the #1 objection from prospects

    * concerned their revenue is up one month and down the next, rather than consistent

    * upset with sales staff who are either unable or unwilling to make cold calls and prospect for new business.

You cannot talk about sales training directly; it's like telling someone they need psychological help. You have to come at it sideways.

I know Jason..kinda makes you chuckle right..? Well he's all about corporate/biz owners/sales ppl training sessions but doesn't know how to leverage online to really promote himself..kinda goes to confirm: no marketing=no sales

Thanks for the great symptoms, I'll try to incorporate that into the "lingo" for his marketing plan for him. But you're right, it's about addressing the problems that he'll solve, not "sales training" in general.

Just trying to figure out how much of my time it'll take and charge accordingly. Appreciate your input--I've been following your posts for a while now and really like your value-added content

    Hello!

Since everyone uses social networking, try targeting them first like FB, twitter and a lot of other sites. Or try handing out flyers on local community, advertising on the net and others. Also try offering deals and stuff.

    Best of Luck!

    Preetie,

With all due respect, how did you acquire this client?

    Did THEY seek you out?

    OR

    Did YOU seek them out?

The reason why I'm asking this provoking question is EVEN THOUGH we would like to HELP EVERYONE out there, unfortunately, we can't for various reasons.

It seems that quite a few people here get themselves into a pickle. Translation: They acquire a client (yippee) and then don't know how to help them (or is it themselves?).

I think the route to go (solution to this conundrum) is to KNOW how to help a business (client) and seek them out with your laser targeted knowledge.

Anyway, I may have some ideas for you, but I would like to know first how you acquired this client, as it could make a difference in how you can help them (or is it yourself?)!

    Sincerely,

    JMB

      Hi JMB,

This client seeked me out (via LinkedIn) and wants help with his online marketing presence so no, it's definitely not for myself LOL (although I do enjoy sales but definitely not a trainer hehe).

There's no doubt that he can better leverage the internet to grow his presence and attendance for these local seminars so I'm looking for ideas to see if anybody has done anything similar with promoting an actual event vs. a brick & mortar business.

Most of my experience has been with the more "typical" offline business so this is a new field (sales seminars, not sales in general, as I've done that before in my last corporate job) so hence me posting here!

I'm always open to learning and new ideas so if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!
