@DeanotheHermit: classified advertising has always been a marketing mainstay, even before online classifieds. I'd love to hear more about your model (if you're comfortable with that) and your pricing.

I could easily be wrong, but I think most IMs see classifieds like Craigslist and BackPages as a means of driving traffic rather than rankings.

It also seems to my your customer acquisition procedure could be a bit labor-intensive. How many advertisers, on average, do you hit up before getting a response? What percentage of responses convert?

Hi guys,

well i was posting to a well know site in the uk, for every 20 send outs i am getting 5-6 people mailling me asking for more info! that's a good rate. Also i am getting a few phone calls a day. I now have outsourced the work saving me time as i am going to be selling on this forum and other places, i have landed a few clients within the short time of doing this system, i charge from £100 a month so it's working out quite well.

With your prospects actually coming to you and not the other way round, you'll now see how easy it can be to convert.

Soon you'll start to receive more than 6 mails a day. Also, remember to ask for referals once you've completed the job for them.

You'll see your client base expand exponetially.

i did outline the service in my first post "i provide my clients with recommendation websites which have 1000's of pages which rank for all the clients local area keywords within days most of the time taking up at least 3 spots on the front page."

That's an outstanding response rate. Depending upon how many of those you actually close, it sounds like a great model for you.

Do you have a residual income from this? If not, I think you should devise something to provide you with a recurring income from these clients, even if it's modest.

Finally, is your program scaleable? If you can scale up and outsource, it sounds like a great plan.

Hi,

i know it sounds a little lame but i don't really know why the rate is so good i guess it's because i leave the door right open for them to email me as my message is very short something like "hi was just looking at your Ad i can get you new clients in the area you work in if that's something that is of intrest to you then send me an email or give me a call"

something like that, and it's working well getting fresh calls and emails every day and now i have someone doing the messages for me it's even better!

Well it takes me about an hour to make the clients sites, i just checked one clients site i brought the domain 2 days ago and put 1000 pages up on the site he is already on the front page for 20 area's he asked me to cover! and got his first call\lead today!

"Do you have a residual income from this? If not, I think you should devise something to provide you with a recurring income from these clients, even if it's modest."

i charge 100-200 a month to my clients for this i add 500 new pages a month to give them even more keywords.

as for the response rate it is very high, need to work on closing skills a little lot of people
are on the fence so need to close a bit better but over all very good.

Oh, sorry.

Going back to your original post: "i provide my clients with recommendation websites which have 1000's of pages which rank for all the clients local area keywords within days" It's not clear to me exactly what you provide (I think others have asked here, too).

I can imagine how you might find prospects by advertising in classified ads, or by contacting current classified advertisers. What I'm unclear about is what you're delivering. For a fee, you install a website with 1000 pages that ranks almost immediately? What's the content? How do you avoid penalties for duplicate content? How does your service mesh with the client's existing Internet Marketing initiatives? (Not how well, but by what method?)

I don't want to ask you to reveal anything you're not comfortable making public, but it does appear you have a unique--or at least very unusual--business plan.

as an example i brought a domain 2 days ago and put the pages up targeting a service for the London area taken 5 London towns already (Google front page at least 1 time sometimes 2 slots) will have every town in London covered in a week! so my clients get a good deal.

Classified ads are great for lead generation, most horror stories come from people who tried to make direct sales from them and misinterpreted the teaching in the nineties. Selling through classifieds is usually a two step process at least, but YES, effective when done well.

No offence mate, I smell bull****, no classified ads in the UK will get you that amount of customers you claim your getting.

All the biggest uk classified site you want to mention have done, same sort of products your selling. So yeah I smell bull.

@remm1uk: perhaps you're just spamming threads to get your post count up, but, if you have a serious question, this seems a harsh way to express it. The OP never said that the classified sources were limited to the UK. That's your assumption. The Internet is a global community, and good Internet Marketers don't limit good ideas to arbitrary boundaries.

In my personal opinion, the OP has been very generous in sharing his experiences. Perhaps you could have expressed your concerns better in a less accusatory stance, "Yes, but how do you find enough classifieds in the UK...," if you actually intended not offending to the OP.

And am telling you for a fact, no UK classified site in the UK with your products your selling will get you 5-6 people mailing you for info as you made out.

Prove me wrong, post a genuine mailings with pics, else you just trying to push your stuff on here.

Edit to add, I sort Uk classified out with their popularity, alexa rankings, their demography, So i know what am talking about when its comes to UK classified.

@ remmy1uk i get a ton of emails a day and about 6-8 phone calls if you read my posts above you will see i have someone doing the legwork for me, the 'guy that does the work for me sends 500-600 messages a day i get around 30 or so emails and 6-8 phone calls,

you smell bull? how so? just sharing how i have done and sure other WF members have or can do the same.

Pity you did not asks questions to get some kind of idea before you post something like that.

remmy1uk you seem really angry? the fact is i get someone to post and the response rate is really high, i think it's because i leave a lot of questions? a message to the person maybe something like

That's all there is to it, i have no reason to lie about it, and you saying prove it is just silly i have nothing to prove i get lots of calls and emails from my messages.

I can do any country uk,usa etc i will admit 95% of my clients are Uk based but the same rules apply for any county in fact USA has more towns\city's so the results will be even better.

And yes i have someone doing the posts now but the results were the same when i was doing the leg work.

I am still finding it difficult to picture this model. From an SEO perspective I don't see how you could produce 1000 pages per month of meaningful and unique content on any topic your customer desires. This seems a far stretch, however - I am open to new ideas and look forward to hearing back form other warriors who are going to give it a go. As I run a classifieds ad site myself - I will be facinated!

The content is basically spun and is based around the customers keywords. The sole aim of the site is to get the visitor to click through to the customers site. I actually run a similar service as this.

I would be interested in the conversion rate once the customer has replied as the site the OP linked to is not the most professional

Hey,

Im struggling to understand your model too.

They way you contact classified ads i understand, and is no biggie as you could use same kind of outsourcing setup to email businesses from yell, newspaper ads etc.

I had a look at the examples but they are not ranking for the keywords that the page is targetting. A couple are not even indexed in google. But I might just be checking wrong or those pages are just examples of the way the pages look. Please let me know.

As for the way you rank for 1000's of keywords still has me baffled. Would love to hear from you mate. PM or post here.

I can see how this model could work, but time will tells to whether could be a long term strategy, or a way of showing some quick results.

However, thank to OP for showing your examples and sharing your methods.

It's yet another example of someone who didn't think "this might not work" but just went ahead and tried it, and took action. It's a simple idea that's providing results right now for the OP.

Hi there,

the demo sites on the page are to show people how the sites look they were never even sent to Google to be indexed.

as you can see there sub domains and as i say are only used to show people the page layout. They covert really well as the keywords targeted are buyer keywords. very easy to sell to clients and work really well.
