You#re A Marketer Not A Salesman...
I am not a natural salesman. In fact I am useless at it! I have learned over the years to be better but it does not flow with me and I am uncomfortable with it. I am much happier doing the work myself and/or outsourcing it. So I had a bit of a problem.
So here is what I have done to increase my client base dramatically over the past 6 months.
I hired a salesman on commission only! Simple.
There are any amount of internet savvy sales people out there just dying for a chance to make some decent money and if you are offering offline services these are the people you want to look for.
I do not consider myself a "geek" by any means, in fact I have been a farrier (blacksmith) all my life until a few years ago, so pretty computer and internet literate! But my first salesman thought I was talking cyber speak to the point he could not follow me!
This was an eye-opener for me because these people are NOT internet marketers they talk a different language. They talk like offline business people speak. So all of a sudden you have someone who can speak to your potential clients for you in a language that they do understand.
The only "drawback", if you can call it that, is you will need to train them to your business so that they accurately represent your business. However, I see this as a good investment of my time as I am reaching a far higher calibre of client than I was 6 months ago.
So my tip is, go out and look for some top sales people to do the heavy lifting for you. You can look in jobs wanted or advertise for them yourself. LinkedIn is a good place to check out some top people or try Craigslist.
Best of luck in all your endeavours.
