WP Twin is kind of a hassle. Is there another plugin that does what WP Twin does from inside wordpress?

A better question would start with what you are trying to accomplish. Otherwise, any answer is just a guess as to how you intend to use it.

I own WPTwin and bought it for both backup and cloning purposes and it works well for me.

PS - Unless WPTwin has changed their product, it is not a WP Plug-in.

I'm disappointed that WP Twin now limits uses like Backup Buddy. You can only use it on so many domains. Not sure how they enforce that... anyway. I purchased it before that change, so I'm very happy to have it.

I saw a WSO for a cloning tool. Was going for $7 with an unlimited use license for $47.

    Here it is: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...p-creator.html

Not sure how good it is. But for $7, I'd give it a whirl. If it works. $47 is a great buy.

Yes Backup Creator was OK except the support desk has now disappeared. Check there is a support option before you buy.

I've had problems with some of those paid plugins not transferring some theme settings or certain parts of the database. Now I use this free plugin from WordPress WordPress › Duplicator « WordPress Plugins
I've tested it with 5 different sites including sites that had trouble with paid plugins and this hasn't failed me once. Free too

If you get a developers license with Backup Buddy or WP-Twin...there aren't any limits on how many sites you can use it on.

I use WP Twin to clone Wordpress sites. Works great.

But, I need a Wordpress site BACKUP solution, from WITHIN Wordpress. Anyone know of a highly user friendly and reliable WP backup?

P.S. I hear people say that WP Twin makes for a good WP backup solution too. I just don't get that. Makes no sense to me that you would clone to a new site just as a means to back up.

      Thanks

I think you are just confusing the symantics of what is being said. The bottom line is being able to reproduce a site if something bad should happen. And WP Twin does that.

One problem with an internal WP backup is what happens if the site gets hacked? Does anyone really want to backup a hacked site, or restore something into an unknown situation?

WP Pipeline is amazing. You can update all of your sites at once and you can backup and clone. It's like the other backup/clone plugins, but it also updates and you can mass upload plugins/themes to already existing sites.

Wp Clone is a good option. Was £17 but now free. Very straightforward and can be used for manual backups. Easy to restore as well

WPtwin has been reliable for me on even very large Wordpress sites.

Just clone it and keep the clone files on your backup drive. Then if anything goes wrong you can start over with your saved clone.

I'm a newbee here but my top 2 choices are 1) Backupbuddy and 2) WPClone.
My advise is to start with WPClone (free). If it becomes a hassle to generate the backups yourself then purchase Backupbuddy.

    Here's why
    Backupbuddy:
Allows you to schedule backups and direct them where you want, i.e. Amazon storage, etc.
You can give cloned sites to others that can be deployed in 5 minutes and the other person does not have to buy Backupbuddy. They only have to set up a database in order to deploy a backup copy. (They cannot make backups though unless they purchase the software.)

    WPClone:
It's free and also does a comprehensive backup including all your plugins - You just have to create your backups manually - Also easy to give cloned sites to others. It's just a little more work to set up a new install. The other person needs to install a basic WP site, install the plugin and then the site can be deployed from the backup.

    WPTwin:
Very good software but the price has doubled and others need to have purchased WPTwin in order to be able to deploy a site back up.

I sell wp templates with cloning solutions and currently use Backupbuddy and WPTwin - They both work great. Going forward, however, I plan to offer Backupbuddy and WPClone because my customers can use either without having to purchase additional software.

    Hope this helps.

I am using Backup Buddy.A feature that I really like is that you can configure the plugin to do automatic backups of your site every hour, day, week etc. This is hands free automation at its best.
