Hey what's up guys?

Some of you guys might know me and some of you guys dont... but either way I've been around the offline niche for a while and I learned most of my stuff from the forum so I decided to come back to the forum to give back. Honestly, I haven't had the chance to check on the forum recently because it's already too much work for me to handle all my guys and keeping up with clients. Don't let the gurus fool you. IT'S A LOT OF WORK!!!

I've spent half of my time this year in the Philippines to grow my team and to take my offline business to the next level. I've also spent over 60k ever since I got started in the offline niche from going to seminars, buying every offline WSOs, internet marketing courses, and testing it out with tons of VAs and direct mail marketing. (most of that 60k went to hiring, testing, and marketing.)

Anyways, I've attached few videos and few proof to show the growth. I didn't attach it to show off but to see if I can inspire you because I know how hard and frustrating it is when first starting out.

I tried everything from knocking on 50-100 doors a day, 100 cold calls/daily, 1000s of linked messages, meetup groups, meetings, seminars, direct mails, events, referrals. You name it... IT WAS A LOT OF WORK and I failed on most of em but i kept my cool and kept going...

      I like to target one specific niche now. I get so many referrals that way. Imagine doing websites for 20 dentist. I'm sure they have plenty of colleagues they can refer you.

      My favorite marketing is referrals but I'm sure you weren't asking to get a boring answer like that.

      One of my most successful marketing was direct mail marketing. One was to people who were already marketing on ads (newspaper, groupon, and etc) and other one was when I targeted Korean niche with a Korean letter + a picture of my pretty Korean face on it.

        LMAO, I have heard a lot about Direct mail and have a number of questions relating to that if I may. Do you write long sales letters with catchy headlines and a story related to their business or what other methods of writing have worked for you. Sorry if my question is strange but I generally cold call and have been going from niche to niche without focusing on one and doing that wholeheartedly if you know what I mean.

            Sometimes the letter is short & simple with their ad that says "i saw your ad and I had few ideas I wanted to share with you. give me a call if interested." and I only write my "first name" and I have so many people calling me asking "hey Chris, I'm really sorry but do i know you?" haha but it's a great way to start a convo. some end up saying no thanks and some become clients.

            I also do like letters that are 3 pages long so I can show them
            1. BANG!!! HEADLINE!!!
            2. you're comp is doing this or ranked here, what I can do for you
            3. PROOF PROOF & TESTIMONIAL!!!
            4. Call me before you comp does!

            both. I used to have my guys call out but I personally like to talk to my clients now. I like building relationship and being the face of my company. And 9 out of 10 times we never see the clients. I like doing everything virtually since I'm always on the road.

    Lies... You did it to show off. I remember a skype convo where you said you weren't going to be around much except to show off. LOL.

        We usually dont call people. The beautiful thing about direct mail marketing is that, they will call you if interested. And at this point we actually paused all our marketing because we are at our full capacity.

        You couldn't have liked every one of them... seriously, EVERY ONE? haha just teasing you! :p

        Yo NameLess, I LAUGHED SOOOOO HARD while reading this. hahahahahahaha because I did say that. I'm not going to lie.... sometimes after working so much I want to show it off to the world and get noticed like a lil girl.

        It's a long story but I had about 10 people working with me before going to Philippines. I was traveling for awhile and I wanted to stop by Philippines to see few of our main guys. I wanted to see how they work and also wanted to get to know their culture better since I was always working with them.

        Anyways, first few people were hired from onlinejobs.ph and after we hired everyone from referrals. And at one point we were just hiring people from the same town because the word got around. plus, all the star players knew other star players in the same town so the interview process got much easier.

        Nice to meet you as well Ryan.

        More than best results, I go for WHO DO "I" ENJOY working with now. I am a real estate investor so I decided to dig into the real estate niche. So while I get paid making their websites & seo, I'm also making money and making friends at the same time. It's really fun because we talk about different strategies for marketing for real estate deals.

        For example. I was at a seminar in dallas and someone said "HEY ARENT YOU THAT GUY WHO GAVE FREE SQUEEZE PAGES?" haha what a social proof. the whole time I was known as the web design & seo guy at the seminar and people kept coming up to be for advice. Made more friends and got more clients.

              I have followed your posts and youtube videos for a while now, glad you posted this Q&A and I will certainly be taking advantage of it

              Here we go :

              1. Could you give a brief rundown of how you built your business up from day 1, and specifically in what time period? (1 year?2 years? I have no idea how long you have been running.) A quick example :

              -3 months in you were doing 100 cold calls per day
              -6 months in you were doing direct mail to 50 businesses per week
              -12 months in you hired outsourced telemarketers from the Phillipines

              2. From your screenshots, it seems most of your clients pay in the $500-$1000 range for what I assuming are websites. Did you try higher price points? What has your experience been with pricing VS conversion of leads?

              3. What do you find is most effective for marketing local businesses? PPC? Organic SEO? Google Places?

              4. How has your marketing expenditure changed from day 1, to today?

              5. Finally, do you plan to offer any more coaching and if so, could you PM me the details? Would love to hear from you

                I didn't do anything special. I just worked my ass off and failed at everything i possibly can and failed some more until i didnt have any more ways to fail.

                you also have to find something that you're good at. just because someone does well with cold calling doesnt mean you'll do well with it. (i suck at cold calling) find out what you're good at and focus on that!

                payoman, I'm honored that you've been following up with my updates. thanks. that makes it all worth it for me to come back to the forum and post more.

                Honestly I dont even remember my parent's birthday... I'm really bad with time and breaking things down. my guys keep everything for the record for me since that's my weakness. but basically read what I wrote to KoolFM. I bought EVERY offline products out there and TESTED EVERYTHING. And it's been about exactly 2 years since I started.

                2. From your screenshots, it seems most of your clients pay in the $500-$1000

                More like $1000-2000. I just wanted to show my recent screen shot that was it. I've been making people simple squeeze pages so build trust so we can upsell in couple months. Plus, referrals are amazing when you do low end stuff.

                And I personally dont like huge projects. It means a lot more money but more stress to the whole team. I'm all about stress-free work. Plus, I have no idea how these huge sites work and I like to be involved in most of the projects.

                3. What do you find is most effective for marketing local businesses? PPC? Organic SEO? Google Places?

                As you can see, we rank #1-2 on google for "Philadelphia SEO". We spent close to a year to get that ranking and thought we'll get millions of clients from it but ehhhh. I prefer direct mail, online marketing (linkedin, facebook), and referrals.




                4. How has your marketing expenditure changed from day 1, to today?

                I don't read about offline marketing anymore. We accepted the fact that we are the real players in the field. Going back to the "six pack" example... I'd rather hit the gym couple more times and eat healthy rather the spend that time reading about it. I think we all know enough, we just have to take action.

                I always tell people, we all know how to lose weight. eat less/healthy and work out more. SO GO OUT AND DO IT!!!

                5. Finally, do you plan to offer any more coaching and if so, could you PM me the details? Would love to hear from you

                I did (1 on 1 Offline Coaching) but I don't anymore since it takes a lot of energy out of me. I focus my time on training my guys and overlooking their work. Plus, I had few people who took the coaching but never took any action. I love to surround myself with go-getters who are about taking action. sometimes I have to motivate people to take action but I'm not Tony Robbins. I even always tell my team members "if I have to motivate you, you dont belong here."

      Only thing we use is ranktracker to pull our report. Ranktracker allows us to put our logo in and pull the report. Other than that, my guys always make an excel sheet of all the seo work they are doing. this excel is more for the project manager and me to see but we do show it to the clients who want to see every step of it. But most of our clients are not that seo saavy and they are fine with just the rank tracker report.

      That's what we were doing...



      All jokes aside, we were doing a lot of linkedin marketing, facebook marketing, and referral marketing. We were building a community in one niche. We picked a niche and really digged into the niche so we can be THAT WEB GUY of the niche.

      Like I said earlier in the thread, if you stick to one niche and get to know all the power players and do over 20+ websites, your name will be known. (dentist niche is just an example. that is not my niche)

            Now people will start talking about your work and send you referrals. Also, don't forget to connect with people and building a facebook fan page will help a lot!

            Literally as we speak, here's an example...

            I just got done chatting with him. He wants two squeeze pages or a website. He said he'll decide after watching football.

            Damn good advice Brian. And that's a nice site they have.

            Like you said, if they really positioned themselves as experts I'm sure they'll run into a lot of the same faces at the conversions. And they can easily ask for referrals or people will natural ask "how do you guys know each other?"

            And if you really did a good job, they'll say "THIS GUYS IS AMAZING AT ______!"

      I did terrible when I first started. I would drive 1-2 hours to even get clients in new york and end up spending an hour with them and they end up not going with any of our services. But I learned so much from all my mistakes that it made me who I am today.

      I believe that appointment, meeting, closing is only ONE OF THE PROCESS. Next is actually delivering your promise. And another thing to add to that is managing your team so they get all the promises right.

      We grade ourselves on those 3. We don't have much trouble with marketing anymore since we have more than enough clients but delivering and managing the team is the difficult part. I guess not many people ever get across the first part but one should master all 3 to have a firm business. but that's just MY TWO CENTS.

      I wouldn't want to get into it all too deep since it'll take horus and hours to talk about direct marketing. But one book I recommend is "ultimate sales letter" by dan kennedy. actually any sales letter book will do.

      But more than the book itself, keep testing!!!

      My background is real estate so I've always been a fan of direct marketing.

      Really, instead of reading more books or searching online, I say test more stuff during that time to see what works.

      And for the list, we try all different kind of stuff. from ripping out yellow letters, printing out groupon coupons and stapling on top of a paper and saying "i saw your ad and i had few ideas, give me a call!"...

      I literally have a team member that looks for the lead for me. that's her primary job. it's not about having A LOT of list but more about quality lists now. We know exactly who we want to target now.
      -People who are active marketing
      -People who are looking for solution/our help
      -People who have money
      -People who I actually would go out and have few beers with

        Thanks for your answer, but can you please be more specific as to what works in direct mail for you? you said "letters" so just plain letters, in a plain envelope has worked the best? really? you don't use any fancy packing, nice brochures, etc? because on your blog you had a pretty sweet brochure you were talking about, so please give more details....

      Alright buddy.... you ready?

      Direct Mail 1
      1) Sign up for your local area groupon/livingsocial (deal sites)
      -I prefer to have my VA do this
      2) Print out and cut out the high value coupons anything up to $100+
      -that's just what I prefer. higher their average customer price, more money you can make your client
      3) Cut the coupon out
      4) Glue or staple it to a paper
      5) Write something like
      "I saw your ad and had few interesting ideas. If you're interested call me..."
      "Chris" <---- (first name only)
      6) Sign it and MAKE SURE it's all hand written
      7) Hand write your envelope
      8) Don't forget to put your return address (better if it's local address)
      -social proof

      Try sending 100 and see how many calls you'll get.

      I get high as 20-25 calls from this. It catches their attention since it's hand written and since you included their coupon,

      I had so many people call me saying "Sorry Chris, how do I know you?" I had so many people ask me this that my automatic answer was "oh... no no no we dont actually personally know each other but i saw your ad on blabla and had few ideas... you have a minute?" (you have a minute always gets a yes... who doesnt)

      More calls but less qualified because some will even call saying "no i'm not interestined" "who are you chris?" "please come in" "i would just like to hear what's up" but collect all this list and make sure to follow up. look at it as long term.

      out of 100 you'll land few and they'll respect you for sending this "weird" letter out.

      Now, I will ONLY tell you about the other letter if you first take action with this.

      is that fair enough?

    Congrats on your success - seems like your a hard worker so you deserve every bit of it.

    I'm mainly focused on lead gen. What, other than organic SEO and PPC traffic, if any, do you use as a resource to get traffic/leads for your clients? If you had to suggest a best alternative to relying on the big G for traffic what would your suggestion be?

        I love tribe marketing. What I mean by that is being in a certain group and being their GO TO GUY.

        Be that guy who gives cool free gift and knows bunch about internet marketing (web design & seo). Say you are targeting lawyers, BE THAT GUY around the lawyers. lawyers have spots they have out on (linkedin, maybe fb, etc) where their friends hang out. And after you land few clients, they will rave about you and come to you when they need some work.

      hmmmmm... why don't you just try both? :p If you're REALLY trying to learn, I believe it's best to pick em up both. I don't recall having these product but I'm sure I got it because I bought most of the google map marketing before when i first got started. I probably have every WSO for offline and seo.

                There was previously a link to a time sensitive WSO in his sig, which is what he was talking about, personally I don't care as long as there is something good in the info.

                  plus I probably had 2-3 sales from the sig... i wouldn't jeopardize my reputation just to make $40-60. yano?

                  by the way, we ran the coupon again and this time we ran it for 4 days. we got 62 likes, 29 shares, and 3,382 people saw the coupon all for a small $50-60 investment. And we did about $1500 in sales. customers were happy to get 20% off and the waitress were happy to get more tip from people that wouldn't have been there if it wasnt for the coupon.

                    Yeah man, I was actually on of the 3 who bought it from your sig haha, that's how I knew about it, those squeeze pages are cool and something we've been looking to do for a while, just not for real estate.

                    Also just got an Anglo-Indian restaurant on board and doing their social media and SEO for them, just about to put up a New Years special coupon on their FB page, see how it works out for them.

                    I showed the owner your ad and the stats, straight away he was like "yep, lets do it"

    I've just started providing new websites for local businesses.

    One question I find hard to answer though, is: "why would I want a new website, my old one is already working for me".

    The people I contact have horrible websites. Really bad design and some of them even lacking functionality.

    I've already pointed out to the potential clients that their website is looking like something from the stoneage, that the coding used may be outdated and that they (IF they go on and pay for a new website) will easily be able to edit / add content to the site through the CMS system.

    How do you answer this question?

        6pm-11pm: family business

        I honestly don't like working with people who aren't ALREADY MARKETING and feel like they NEED my services.

        EX:
        In the pick up niche, their clients have to want to get laid and be frustrated and want solution to sell them on the coaching/product.

        Ex:
        If you're selling boob implants, you would want your clients to want to get a boob job rather than convincing them why it's useful.

        Of course some will disagree but I can only answer your question according to what I think and what I am currently doing. It's just that sometimes when people don't know the reason why they want stuff, it's like trying twisting an arm to get a sale.

        But to still answer your question... "why do I need a website?" the best answers/questions should be, "when's the last time you got sales online?" "how do you follow up with you clients?" "when you have a special deal how do they find out?" "did you know X% of people are using the internet to find blabla?" "did you know that instead of spending money on new advertising, it'll be super if you just followed up with your clients?" "what difference would it make if your clients came back 2X a year?"

        Honestly, you should know best why they need it since you're their marketing guy. GLUCK BRO!

        Natasha, I'm really not sure how to answer this... You either take em or you don't. However you're comfortable. This question is kinda like "should I eat this ice scream although it'll make me fat?" If it's worth it, GO FOR IT! :p

        At one point I was targeting one Korean restaurant in each city all across US. And I had few people in my "city" who wanted to do SEO/Internet Marketing but I have my parent's restaurant rank #1 so I didn't want to take them on. Extra $500-1000/month doesn't interest me because that means losing THOUSANDS of dollars for my parent's restaurant.

        For example, here's an ad we ran yesterday and we already got 40 likes and 17 shares. Can't wait till tomorrow to see how many sales we get. If I dominate the front page of google with my parent's competitor and do all their online marketing, my parents wouldn't be too happy with me.

    I bought a wso from you it was a real estate squeeze page. I have to say it's pretty sick.

    So the questions is: Do you have any tips for creating really effective squeeze pages? Do you outsource that ? If you do is there any place to look for good squeeze page creation?

    2) that squeeze page actually had a 40 percent fill out rate with Adwords. yes I am good at adwords but I think your squueze page was a lot of the reason. Is that normal for a well designed squeeze page?

      haha i often use the word bromo but i think i like broseph so much better. definitely stealing it from you!

      we make all our squeeze pages on our own. we have full time designers and developers who design and develop everything for our company and clients.

      I'm glad you're getting a killer optin conversion to it. we're actually getting up to 42.2% too. would love to chitchat and hear more about your experience on using the squeeze page.

        we make all our squeeze pages on our own. we have full time designers and developers who design and develop everything for our company and clients.

        I'm glad you're getting a killer optin conversion to it. we're actually getting up to 42.2% too. would love to chitchat and hear more about your experience on using the squeeze page.

          I started doing internet marketing for my real estate business and then seo on my parent's restaurant. And I started having people ask me to do the same for them.

          We started doing SEO and even named our business with the wword "seo" in it but now we do more web design works. haha

          so do whatever you can do serve your customers and find out what YOU enjoy and what works for YOUR customers.when those two click, everything is more fun!

          It really depends... and another question you should ask is, what services do my CLIENTS NEED rather than focusing on what you need to sell. And sell what you're REALLY GOOD AT, and the word will get out. hope that helps.
