Anyone here having cases about cold calls? What works what doesn't? How big sales can you close over the phone - what is your experience?

    Its hard as hell to sell over the phone. Try setting up an appointment. You've just created a warm followup call. PM Mwind076, they do this stuff for a living.

    Did cold calling or 5 years, most people last 30 days
    management often by 1 year. Sold many projects.

    Do online marketing and pull marketing and have them come to you
    it's far easier. 90% of the people won't answer there phone these days.
    plus there are dailer systems and systems that can leave voicemails , hundreds per day

    I do very very well cold calling. The trick is to stay consistent and persistent and most importantly know your numbers. It can be tough being told no, and to F***k off every day but what keep me motivated is knowing my numbers. I know that per 500 phone numbers I call I make about $600.

    I also believe in using automated tools like Localizer lead scraper to export big lists of leads and a power dialer like Phone Burner to help you burn through the calls quicker. Check out the thread I just posted showing me successfully cold call.

    I still do cold calling, I started by picking up the local phone book, checking the do not call list, and called people in order to setup meetings. Very low success ratio, however you need to get a thick skin. This is the method I use:

    1. Ask once, set appointment, great, don`t get appointment, move to step 2.
    2. respond to the objection, once again ask for appointment, set appointment, great, don`t get appointment, move to step 3.
    3. Ask them permission to call back in a months time (or 6 months, whatever suits you)

    You can get at least a 50% call back ratio, which is great as the next time you call is a lot warmer. Setting up an appointment is about a 1 in 50 on the first call (my personal ratio in the industry that I still work).

    Now calling businesses is a totally different ball game, and they are MUCH more responsive, AND you don`t have to check the do not call list.

    I agree with one of the other posters, you cant do business over the phone with the first call. Call to setup a meeting, or for permission to send them a e-mail proposal.

      There are tons of offline warriors of whom can sell / do business over the phone AND on the initial call. It's possible.

      Also, I've personally had bad experience with the whole asking them if it's okay to send a proposal via e-mail. It'll only give them a good excuse to say "Yeah, sure send it over" in order to get off the phone. If they're REALLY interested it's possible they'll get back in touch with you after they've gone through the proposal (granted, if it sends to the correct address and if they actually check it), but a lot of the time the only thing you're doing is providing them with an opportunity to let them think deeply about it, thereby making it more likely for the prospects to talk themselves out it.

      It hasn't worked well for myself personally. Not saying it's not a strategy that works with others, just sharing my experience with it. If you're going to go that route at least ensure that a follow-up calls are always made.

    You can do business over the phone on a first call. However, it doesn't happen often and you are at the mercy of getting the DM on the phone, having him agree to talk to you THEN (without an appointment), and him wanting/needing your product/service. It can be done, and is done often by those that can, however it is a less likely scenario, which is why it's best to use that time to set appointments with qualified people that want to talk to you.

    As for the poster above me sending over a proposal via email, that is not how it's done by those that know what they are doing. You don't just "send something over" - there's a completely different, well thought out process on how to handle those that request an email or won't agree to an appointment...but that's another topic.
