Another Local SEO help thread...

I am needing a little guidance on Local SEO best practices...I understand most are fairly tight lipped when it comes to the secrets of SEO but I will takes thoughts, ideas or suggestions people are willing to share.

Here is the story...just before Christmas I had sent out a mock mobile site to a prospect and upon a follow up call I was asked to call back in the New Year. Now that we are through Christmas and New Years I have followed up with the prospect, he would like to meet for a face to face this coming Monday...awesome.

Here is the challenge...I had specifically targeted this prospect for a mobile site but during our conversion he also stated that he would like to discuss SEO options as well.

I understand the grander scheme of SEO...although that seems to change daily depending on googles mood...I am not savvy when it comes to local SEO practices...I want to be able to come into the meeting prepared to discuss options.

Most likely going to be outsourcing anything the client may decide he wants...I just to want make sure I know what I am offering and what is best for the client.

Outsource suggestions would also be appreciated.

Thanks
Adrian

same as any SEO, set them up in google places, make sure all on page SEO is up to par (keywords, meta tags and description) add original content and start a backlinking campaign, you will see results, SEO is my main business and have done this many times before -- Good luck on your appointment

Outsourcing -- just post a local SEO job on Odesk and you will have floods of people (who know what they are doing) apply.

There are several highly competent local SEO service providers right here on the WF that you can outsource the work to if you really don't know what you are doing, or simply don't want to do it yourself.

You just need to get him/her set up at the major review sites and optimize their google + local site either established or claimed and optimize it.

Google is shifting more towards local, so that aspect of SEO is pretty "cut and dried", not like the artic animal slaps.

I f you need some ideas, skype me and we'l talk about it.

Thanks Troyco...I will make sure on page is sorted properly...so really not a whole lot different than any other SEO project..good organic backlinking?

Thanks Trent...I was hoping to find someone local(by local I mean here in the WF) for the outsourcing...if I go that route...I suppose I could inquire with them what their packages and plans look like.

Hi Steve...Thanks for the guidance and direct actions to take...I would love to take you up on your skype offer sometime. What do you mean by "cut and dried"?

I would like to find a tool to help evaluate SEO...a decent one anyway.

Thanks again everyone...looking forward to this first appointment...although will admit...little nervous.

If you want some ammo for this meeting I can send you a free online presence report for your client.

It's 2 reports actually, and they're very powerful. It will show you exactly where the business is ranked in local search engines, what directories they're list and not listed in, and technical issues related to the website that can affect SEO. The report also has information about their local competitors, and where they're ranked as well.

If you're interested send me a PM.

Thanks Kung Fu... that's some great info you shared there...the links to the tools are helpful but unfortunately as SEO is not my primary focus I don't want to invest quite that much.

Thanks for the offer d1eyou but I don't tend to give client information out to people I don't really know...as much as I would love to trust blindly...I can't...

You could outsource this one - but I'd say learn it so in the future you actually know what your doing with SEO and can offer that in every package

    Thanks for the advice djackson,

That is a good idea...learn what I need and use it as an add on.

The biggest challenge I am having is figuring out what to look at when evaluating the site and then what to offer to do to improve the site.

I know he has a yelp review but no others...he has Facebook and twitter but whether he is utilizing them...not sure.

His business is on page 5 so not a whole lot of climbing...but still won't happen overnight.

Thanks for that have contributed and to those that still may.
