I personally think the approach is good because you first make them realize that the everyday price is higher and the feel good factor comes later with the discounted price. But, as others mentioned...

It's a lack of detail in planning to me. You buy a WSO and the emails come from a name you never heard of. There's nothing to connect the sender with the forum name and unless you read the email...
