I just built one using Aweber. It takes 5 minutes.

What email subscription service do you use?

Hi Jake

OptinPop plugin is the way to go

In WP left menu / Plugins drop down / Add New / type optinpop in the search box term, click search and there you have it just click install.

Yes I used it and it works pretty well, the best free solution availlable, but hey there's nothing like testing out yourself

now I use LightPOP (not affiliated) however it's 97.00

Hi Jake,

There's something called "FasterIM Opt-in plug-in for Wordpress" & there is a free version (that has their link at the bottom) & a paid version for $37 (sans link & a few more design choices).

I've used the free version just to show people what a light box optin for WP looks like. I actually like it a bit better than Aweber because it's bigger (I don't know how to resize the Aweber one or even if you can). But you really need an autoresponder service, unless you plan on manually sending out responses - which sort of defeats the purpose of having an optin box. GetResponse.com has a free version as does MailChimp.com for lists below 500 subscribers. I left GR disappointed (paid version) after several years, & haven't used MC but know someone who loves it. Be aware that free services usually means some sort of advertising by the company within your messages.

That's what I said:

The link at the bottom is an advertisement for their service. I don't use it for my business, I use it as an example only.

FasterIM Opt-in is a plug in not an autoresponder service. They even suggest you integrate Aweber.

Aweber has a built in popup software built in. So I am guessing he plans on using that as he is already paying for Aweber. No need to buy something additional.

Though, I haven't tested it, I am not sure i it has as many controlling features as the others mentioned.

Thanks for your comments. This might be a silly question - but there's no 'free' version of AWeber is there.... you have to pay the monthly AWeber fee in order to be able to use their pop-up newsletter form, correct?

Correct!

Indeed, there's no free aweber.

However, I can install you the whole solution, a personal autoresponder
system that does all that aweber does integrated with a lightbox popup
for a ONE TIME fee.
