Combining APIs and Affiliate links?

Hello,

There's a boatload of APIs out there for virtually every kind of niche, but one thing I am not sure about is whether you can earn money from these APIs.

An example could be travel websites, some have APIs you can use; but what I'm not sure is if I can earn affiliate income from building an app that leverages this API.

I would be very interested in knowing if anybody on WF has done such a thing and what the best strategies for doing this would be.

Thanks.

API is very important specially with great services like FB and twitter , freelancing sites , travel sites

according what the API provide , the idea will come as example FB gives the apility to post to users wall, getting their email etc

lot's of apps make use of that and build an interesting application that promote itself

domain registrars like Godaddy makes you build your own selling site for domains with your brand depending on it's platform

It's nice that we have so many APIs these days. Just about every great site has one. As for making money it depends on how the API is used. There are endless possibilities. If a web app is built utilizing an API that is unique and useful then sure it would be worth something. If you are simply pulling content from a site and republishing it that may have limited value, but it really depends on how the content is being used.

Thanks. Travel sites API is a big one, I guess I could always combine several types of revenue for my app idea such as in-app advertising, google adsense.
