Hey

I'm trying to have a look at my competition, and checking out their backlinks etc...

They must be using a 301 redirection because the domain is number 1 in Google for a high keyword has 8 backlinks - 8 pointless backlinks..

How can i find the old domain with the 301 redirection to this new domain?

Any way of doing this?

Thanks

Links are not the only way to get a high pr.
I have gotten pages to the number one spot in google with less then 5 links.
Hell, I have even outranked Wikipedia with only 1 link.

Yeah, backlinks are not as valuable as they once were. You're better off going for keyword-oriented domain names as opposed to several thousand backlinks.

For instance, I just recently finished a couple pages on Direct Torrents Online - Download Direct Torrents and Arouse Women - 20 Places To Pick Up Women. The first one I published couple pages and let them sit there. The second one I published a couple pages and blasted it with SENuke for a couple hundred links back. Both of them are ranked in the top 10 in the same amount of time (direct torrents slightly higher) for an exact keyword search, and both are page 2-3 for non-direct keyword searches.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see a hit against my backlink-driven advertisement soon (within a year), as several hundred forum profiles pointing to some articles pointing to my site, no matter how convuluted I may make them, doesn't actually make my site any more valid to search engine results, it just means I spent more time building backlinks. And the search engine's know this, its just a matter of time before they start cutting throats over it.

Bottom line: Content is King, and Domain Name's are Queen for the set.
