Greetings Warriors!

I want to put a webpage online,, this is my firsty time, so i'm a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to building websites and putting them online..

I just bought a domainname + hosting, and i builded a simple testpage in dreamweaver.

But now my page cannot been seen after i upload my index.html with Smartftp or the build-in webftp of my hostingprovider.

Which noble warrior can help me out with this?

Where did you FTP the file to on your server? Most hosting plans have a "public_html" folder that is actually the root of your website, this is where you send your files to.

Check that you did indeed upload to the correct folder.

This is really a question for your hosting provider. There might be particular settings you need in your ftp client. It might take a day or two for your new domain name to show up. And there might be some other gotcha that we couldn't even guess. Your question should be simple and routine for your provider's support staff.

what does the error say when you access your domain? Surely there is an error page message like "Page Not Found" or something like that. I doubt hosting providers would really answer that question. I've experienced a lot of their customer service but ended up solving my own problems because they give vague solutions.

@frost_entangle: I still believe smartftp is better than filezilla. i've used both and I'm not satisfied with the latter.
