Where can I hire someone to do PayPal IPN script

I want my customers to be automatically sent an email with download links after they have made their PayPal payment (at the moment I do it manually).

Any idea where I could get someone trustworthy to do this and roughly how much it should cost. I haven't had much luck at getting free lancers to do what I want in the past; so hoping for some pointers.

    You can hire people off this forum, I'd be happy to do this, but I've never done anything with paypal before, so you can probably find someone else who has.

    For pointers, I would recommend you find someone on here instead of elance etc.
    This is a simple enough script that a developer should expect to have the work complete before they get paid.
    However, please be mindful of developers time, most developers make $30-60+ an hour, for some reason on the net we get treated like were a dime a dozen. And there are some developers that work for significantly less, do not waste your time or money with those, they will tell you they can give you the world, and then explain how it is not possible once you start paying them.

    You dont need to hire anyone use a free generator such as www.paypaltech.com/SG2/ Then at the bottom of the code on the IPN create a mail script. Very easy! have fun : )

    Be careful using generated scripts.

    I'd recommend using Stripe.com if you can, it will allow you to accept more forms of payment.

    If you're using wordpress you can use a plugin like "Easy Digital Downloads": WordPress › Easy Digital Downloads « WordPress Plugins

    In my opinion I wouldn't let other places handle your transactions, you should be the host for your own server-to-paypal-to-server-to-email solution.

    If you're looking for just a simple php IPN script a good place is PHP Class Scripts, Tutorials, Book reviews, Jobs, Jobs, User groups, Forums - PHP Classes .. Although I do suggest going with a wordpress plugin, or if you must have standalone you'll find a few over at Code Canyon's marketplace, among many other places.

    Yeah, the generator from paypaltech.com/SG2/ is nice and gives a starting point. A developer must look at it and adapt it for your needs.

    I've released a free WordPress plugin that allows you to sell digital products. It uses PayPal and has some download restrictions e.g. max 3 per purchase and the links expire within 48hours. Private Message me if you want to know more about the plugin.

      DLGuard is a great solution. It's kind of pricey, but it is a one time charge and it can do just about anything you need or will ever need.

      E-junkie is an online service and starts at $5/month. It is also a pretty good solution to consider.

      I haven't personally used either of them. But they are on my short list of quality (trustworthy) solutions. I am a web programmer and have custom coded my own delivery systems. I put a lot of time into it, and it still can't yet do half the features that either of those tools provide. I have considered switching to one of these in the future to save time down the road.

      I would recommend considering either of these options, or any similar paid solutions, over paying someone to custom code your own solution. It may be cheaper in the short term, but as your business grows, you will likely have to pay to have your script recoded to adapt. And you will get updates for security patches for free. No need to repay a programmer to fix problems.

      Getting paid and delivering products is arguably the most important part of online business. You should consider your solution here to be an important investment in your business. Choose quality over price.

    DLGuard is an excellent product. But if it's overkill for what you need and you don't find what you are looking for, I am getting close to releasing a download script that works with PayPal IPN to beta testing.

    If you want in as a beta tester, shoot me a PM. All I can offer for help with beta testing is a free copy of the script.

    I would suggest either Fiverr.com (It can be really cheap as PayPal's IPN isn't hard to understand) OR sites like Freelancer.com. Remember to pick up someone with good references. Good luck!
