PHP4 and blocked wordpress site

A friend of mine has just updated his old wordpress site running on a PHP4 hosting to the latest version. The last version of wordpress requiers PHP5 so his website is completly blocked.

With no access to wp-admin, he can't even clone the websitein order to change his hosting plan. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve the problem?

    Try using Xcloner. The standalone version can handle it, not sure if Xcloner will run on PHP4. XCloner - Website Backup and Restore | Professional Backup application, Joomla backup extension, Wordpress backup plugin


    In the alternative export the database using phpMyAdmin

      If he can't access his dashboard, how will install the XCloner plugin? The work is much more complex.

        If you knew how to read you would have seen that I didn't tell the OP to install a plugin. Xcloner is a standalone php script that has a fork that is a WordPress plugin and another fork that will back up a Joomla site.

          If you don't mind... I have read the knowledgebase again... could you show me the part where says that is forbidden to try to make money on a forum where EVERYTHING is about money and how to do this?

          OP.
          1. Log in to phpmyadmin and save the database related to your website.
          2. Log in to your FTP, go to the directory where is installed your website and save all files on your computer.
          3. Go to your new hosting account, create a database and import the previously saved database into the new created one.
          4. Go to your new FTP account and upload all previously downloaded files.
          5. Open wp-config.php and insert the details of the new database.
          6. Log in to wp-admin, go to Settings - Permalinks and click on save options without any other modifications.

          Keep in touch if need something else, you will surely need more help.
