WordPress Help! Please. Post Not Showing Up Correctly.

6 replies
Hey WarriorForum,

I have 3 published posts in my dashboard that are full blown posts with text, pictures, and the whole 9 yards.

However, when I click view the post live, all it shows is the featured image with zero text.

I tried contacting hostgator support but they told me this is a design/development issue with WordPress.

I am not technical by any means, so what do I do to fix this error?

here is an example of one of my full blown posts that just show up as a picture when you view it live: Global Resorts Network Review - Tips From Tim:

Thanks

    Looks like you might have something that is not working correctly toward the bottom of the page,
    ", align: "center", close: true, closeText: "X", closeAlign: "right", remember: true, expireIn: 2, cookieName: "bugmebar", colours: true, animate: true, fixed: true, fixedSpacer: false, zindex: 9999999 }); });

    Hi,

    Try to check your single.php file for these codes:

    Code:
    <?php the_content(); ?>
    That code should be in the middle of
    Code:
    <div class="entry">
    and
    Code:
    </div>
    you can manually add it if it is not present.

    Also, there are some codes that aren't working,I believe it is in your index.php file, here are the codes:

    Code:
    ",
        	align: "center",
        	close: true,
        	closeText: "X",
        	closeAlign: "right",
        	remember: true,
        	expireIn: 2,
        	cookieName: "bugmebar",
        	colours: true,
        	animate: true,
        	fixed: true,
        	fixedSpacer: false,
        	zindex: 9999999
        });
    });
    Would be best to contact the seller of your theme, they should be able to help you with it.

      Hi thanks!

      I'm not savvy at all when it comes to code.

      How do I check this "php" file and fix it?

    As rafihsu suggested, add
    <?php the_content(); ?>

    To the single.php template file.

    To edit the wordpress template files you will need to login to the admin dashboard and the go to the appearance > editor menu link. Here is a doc at the codex Appearance Editor Screen « WordPress Codex

    There will be a list of the files available to edit. Normally, these files are editable but some shared hosts may not grant the required file permissions for security; this is rare though.

    The wordpress codex has a few well written docs, for theme development go to Theme Development « WordPress Codex

    I use GENESIS Framework and Eleven40 Child Theme.

    The single.php and index.php file are both in the Genesis editor, but in the editor it says,

    "WARNING: This file is part of the core Genesis Framework. DO NOT edit this file under any circumstances.
    * Please do all modifications in the form of a child theme."

    However, the child theme doesn't have the single.php and index.php file?

    Do I make these edits to the Genesis framework?

    Here are pictures of what my editors look like:
