# of Outbound Links - Need Help

If I'm looking at getting a link on a page, should I be concerned about the number of outbound links the page has to other sites?

I know that the number of times a site links to mine will start to see diminishing returns quickly, but I'm wondering if that same rule applies to all outbound links.

For example, if a page has 100 points of link juice and links out to 10 sites, does each site get 10 points of link juice (and see that number decrease as more links are added), OR does each site get 100 points of link juice (for sake of easy numbers) from that initial link to each domain?

We're going to potentially buy a couple of links from relevant sites in our niche and want to know how this will work before we move forward.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The more links there are on a page, the weaker each link is.

You've already had a good answer I'd also add that the more outbound links a page has the more likely it might look like it is selling links and get you both penalised in G.

Both Paz and Mike are ever so right...

I believe the last time I checked the saturation point was around 100 outbound links wrt Google algo but that has probably changed... Seriously stay away from that and don't get blinded by PR as that is just a smoke screen... and further there are so many sites with fake PR (like the ones on fiverr)...

As you are considering buying backlinks from a directory - well bear in mind that sadly there is such a thing these days called negative SEO.

If it is a quality good standing website, any natural relevant link from it will help. However if you are talking about a blog post with 100+ comments full of links then that surely won't be counted for obvious reasons.

Ideally if you are buying links, aim at no more than 15 outbound links. Having said that, it is highly recommended to stay away from black hat tactics and suspicious link networks.

    Hope that helps!
