If you redesign your site to a better design and keep all urls the same should it likely not be a problem?

Thanks

A site redesign is about more than just the URL structure. Any redesign could have a positive or negative impact on rankings.

The design of the webpage can influence many thinks : speed, usability, user experience etc. And these thinks influence search engine ranking.

So, if your new design is better looking, better loading etc, you should see an improvement.

I recently had a site redesign done, well as recent as just before christmas 2014, their was thousands of lines of code, image tags, meta tags, css and all the rest of it, paid alot of money for a firm to pull out all the crap and rehaul the website professionaly and they did

the result was the site ranked page 2 position 7, 1 weeks after the redesign it ranked page 1 position 2

so yes it can have a significant impact on the engines (website structure is very important)

It depends on the purpose of the redesign. If you're reducing speed and bounce rates then it will have a positive effect.

But it could definitely change it instantly as heaps of the coding is changed.

A good pre plan for web redesign can rank up your website. Because when you re design your website lot's of things can be changed like coding standers, contact position, style, usability, Text to HTML ratio and more.

So if you think that you can make your website better then previous then you can redesign your web page. But you must take care of your URLs.

I've seen ranking changes (mostly positive) by merely changing themes on some of my WordPress sites, so it's possible your rankings may be impacted by a redesign even if there is no change in url structure.
