Are on page anchor links just as good as links for SEO?

I didn't really know how to phrase this question. If I put anchor links on a long page, does that help me with SEO as much as it would if I were to break up my long article and link to different pages instead?

I hope this question makes sense.

Thanks for any help!

Hmm.. either. The thing is, when you are linking to different pages, as long as it is accurate and relevant, it will do. Same goes to anchor text.

Google like long article. I don't suggest to break up good, interesting for users and relevant for SE article.

The amount of text on a page is irrelevant for SEO unless your aiming to rank at the bottom of the first page for a root keyword with In-depth articles, example:

Scroll to the bottom of each one of those root keyword searches & you'll see 3 results with images based on In-depth articles.

Other than In-depth articles Google doesn't rank pages based on the amount of text on a webpage.

Seriously though, who searches for root keywords (car, food, internet, etc...) where there's no user intent? Nobody, that's who...

Don't get me wrong, targeting root keywords should be done but use that root keyword authority to pump up keywords/pages that will have better conversion rates.

Your better off breaking long pages up into smaller chunks of content that each target sub-topics & use internal links to connect the series of relevant pages (silo).

Also keep in mind internet traffic usually has a very short attention span.

Keep it long, it's fine. Too many short articles which look incoherent is terrible when it comes to navigation. This makes a lot of people leave your website and increases your bounce rate, reducing your SEO results.

I agree with our fellow warriors. Keep your article long with at least 500 words are more. Also use pictures and video accompanied by anchor text including your main keyword and also relevent keywords with high search volume. Don't forget to include your target keyword in the headline of your articles.

Yup But Some How Placement of Anchor Text will Helps You to Increase Bounce Rate. But if you Mis Place that it won't affect SEO but it won't help to Achieve Bounce Rate.

Having Internal Links and Out Bound Links will helps you a lot to make your webpage better SERP.
