Question about Angela's Links...

Every month Angela sends out a packet with a list of places to get backlinks. Often to get the backlink I have to make a profile on that site. That profile has its own unique url and when Google picks it up they will see the link to my site and boost my site's ranking.

My question is this: How long does it take Google to find the url? Should I submit the url to onlywire.com?

What has worked for you?

I think that Google picks up the url in not more than one day because the sites are already indexed in Google but I can also depends if the site is already indexed by Google and how often it is spidered by Google.

If Google Bot comes to the sites every day to check for new content it will take only one day for Google Bot finds it.

How do you know how much the site is spidered? The sites that are updated very often are spidered very often. Some Sites are spidered multiple times every day. Usually social networking sites are spidered very often.

Hope that helps and For more question PM me.

A lot of profile backlinks don't get picked up ever because there are no links to your profile page from that site, so you should try get links from the site to you profile page, by:

commenting (on other profiles, blogs, articles on that site)
chatting in the forums (if they have one)
    reviews

Getting links to it from other sites as you suggested will also help boost your ranking and guarantee indexing of those pages, make those backlinks count!

i agree with you on this, coz in the last months the only links that have been picked up by google (from my angelas pack) were the ones where i had either commented in the blog or the forums. rest i am still waiting to to be picked!

Yes You are correct. Me too have the same experience. When I get very first pack, I just did not do anything, just created the profiles, so, I could not see any changes on my SERP, for next time, I used to be some active on the places where I used to create my profiles, So, my profiles are used to get cached, However, it never happened within 24-48 hours, It took about 1-2 weeks

@nick, I ping every profile once I get to the publicly viewable page. Just wrote a simple script that places pingomatic on my tab bar so it's a one click deal to ping. Has helped get a spotlight on them IMO.

@Franco, sorry mate. If you're not seeing results that is nothing nice, but you calling Angela's stuff nonsense or that profile links are "useless", well it's bad form and entirely misleading. As for "go and test for yourself", well I have, more than once. Her link packets (yes, her profile links) have helped to soar a few of my sites, sometimes so quickly I've had to shake my head. I also know of about a dozen warriors personally who have had had drastically good results from Angela's + Paul's links. Just last week I had an article go from nowhere in google to position 1 in a very high competition fitness niche - using only Angela's July and August packet.

If they're not working for you, try to PM Angela to see if she will help you figure out why, at least before making blanket statements like you just did. She will likely try her best to find out why your case is such an anomaly - especially since they've worked like gangbusters for most of the people that use her service.

Not saying you're not entitled to your own opinion Franco, I'm saying you shouldn't be stating that opinion as fact.

Ditto! I too use Angela's and PJ's backlink methods with great success. So even if not all profiles get crawled by google it's still sufficient to rank well. Having said that I am wondering now how to make sure to get them indexed. If I use Pinogmatic wouldn't this be kind of frowned upon by google - sort of like an overload of same links ticking off the alert bar? Bookmarking, good idea...

Pinging new profiles, content, e.t.c... is not going to cause any alarm bells anywhere. If you have something new and it's just been submitted on the web, pinging is how you let the relevant powers that be to come by and crawl around.

What if the pages, profiles etc. aren't new?

I think a lot of the profile backlinks actually do get picked up because a lot of these sites have member lists or rotating member showcasing. Or "latest" members on the frontpage etc. If it's a forum profile and youre not participating google may still pick up your profile from the memberlist (if the forum has one) or "now online". So as Tristan said it may be a good idea to stay on a forum for a while, reading or not, just so your profile gets picked up.

I've noticed more forums and cms's using robots.txt exclusions and in a couple cases meta tags to keep profile and member pages out of search indexes altogether. Might be well to check before you bother registering.

Angela's links rule. They've helped my sites take top spots in every niche I've used them on.

You do need to get them indexed though. I don't think the sites have a "directory of members" to get spidered for the most part so it's not possible for the search engines to find your profile page without a little help.

I always bookmark every profile page with Bookmarking Demon and every one of those pages are indexed within 48 hrs.

These profiles wont be found by themselves, unless a link to them appears somewhere prominent on the site, a page that Google crawls often. Some sites have a newest members list on their front page, and then you're probably good to go. Others don't so you need to help Google find the profiles.

    I use several techniques:

    * I link from one profile to another, so that every profile is referenced from at least one other profile. Since Google follows links when it finds them, especially if the link points at a high authority site, you're then good to go. Google needs to find just one profile then to find a whole bunch of yours that are linked from it.

    * I have a blogger blog where I drop links to all the profiles I create.

    * I social-bookmark the profiles

    * I ping all the profiles with pingomatic.com

    * I make an RSS feed from all the profiles and submit the feed to RSS directories

Even with all these techniques, I still only get around 65-70% of my profiles crawled. But that's enough to make my money pages rise in the SERPs.

Has anybody actually done a controlled experiment to test the success of Angela's backlinks?

Although I keep reading positive reports I suspect that most don't use Angela's backlinks in isolation. On this basis it is not scientifically sound to conclude that Angela's backlinks work. How do you know that your successes are coming directly from Angela's backlinks and not your other backlinking efforts?

I am a big skeptic of Angela's backlinks. Did a full month's worth a couple of months ago and only about two show up in Yahoo site explorer. If they are not getting found they don't count.

Unless anybody has done a controlled experiment I remain in the camp that says they don't work as well as they are claimed to. I unsubscribed.

    Thanks,

    Andy

I think they definitely do work, but for me I can't figure out how the non-forum ones are getting noticed (i.e. the ones which are websites which don't have a "Members online:" or "Newest member:" box), but I guess it does work.

I think they are useful anywhoo, and no doubt a lot of experimenting has gone into it. Remember that backlinks can take a month or two to show up.

What I personally did was use all the backlinks in the pack, and then I kept any forums I had registered to on an auto-refresh (using a Firefox add-on) - this meant that my profile link was viewable on the forum homepage for as long as I had my computer switched on (so 14 hours per day perhaps).

For the next pack I'll probably do this again, and also ping each profile too.

  • The first time i heard about angela and pauls backlinks i was a bit skeptical. However,i decided to give it a go because it only cost about $12.

I was truly amazed within a few days my site had jumped from page 3 for a particular keyword to 9th place on the first page.I will definitely be using their service in the future and i will recommend them to everyone.

Its true some of the sites are catching on to what is happening.I had a few of my accounts disabled but most of the sites were great.

I do have another question about pinging...if I use pingomatic it looks pretty clear to me that this service is not intended for pinging profile pages. It's for blogs. So isn't this a type of abuse? Could this get you or the specific pages banned?

    They work. End of story.

Yes, some areas in some sites are No Follow. Angela and Paul both make sure you are placing your links in areas that are Do Follow. And yes the PR of the site does help for interior pages.

I use these (but not exclusively) for even very competitive keywords with great results. I do take a bit of time and input some info into the profile so it doesn't look completely bare and I know I am getting some traffic that way too as it shows up in my AW Stats regularly.

I have seen people here say that just about anything you want to suggest "Doesn't Work and Can't Work!" Listen to all the naysayers and you might as well stay home and give up...

The links DO work. And here's the proof that they ARE indexed in Google.

Simply go to Google and type your username that you used to create all of your profiles followed by a space followed by the word Profile. You links will show up in the search if you have a unique enough username.

Its a crude way of viewing what links are indexed, but it will prove to those that doubt the profiles are not being indexed.

The only problem with this method of backlinking in the webmasters get wise to it and either remove your profile or stop the links appearing in the profile - but this doesnt happen that often.

Usually G' spider does n't take much time for indexing any new content but it depends on certain factors. Well, you need it in hurry, do some marketing work and get some strong links (may be social bookmarking) to get the desired page indexed quickly.

I started using Angela's Links only this month (August 2009) for a brand new site that wasnt even indexed in google as the site was only 1 day live.

Normally my new sites take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month or longer to be indexed ( depends on how many backlinks I use) I have used social bookmarking sites very often and yes they do get indexed and rank quicker but dont seem to stay high up on the search engines for long.

With Angela's Links my site was indexed within a day and is slowly moving up the rankings on a daily basis and all I have done is to leave a link on my profile.

Since the site is of high PR, there's a quite good probability
that the site has good amount of activity going on.

So, other than pinging the specific profile pages, you need not
do anything else, and let Google index the page naturally.

It definitely makes sense (to me at least) to check a week or two after creating the accounts on Angela's packets to see which one's have been found by Google.

The one's which haven't, I'll typically throw up on Digg which seems to get them indexed pretty much immediately
