Best practice to move redesigned site to new host.

Hi all,

I'm redesigning a wordpress site currently on local server, the new site will be with the same domain as the old one but in a new host.
The new site map will be completely different but the content will stay somewhat the same.

What is the best practice to move the new site to the new host without hurting the old one SEO ranking and everything related?

I hope i explained it right.

    Just make sure that the URL structure and internal link structure does not change. If your content and layout are changing, there could be an impact on the rankings (good or bad) that is unavoidable, but in most cases it will be fairly minor.

    Agreed, keeping internal links intact on the new site design is important If you already have pages ranked on the SERPs.

    Messing up links/URLs for existing ranked pages will drop a page in the SERPs just as fast as you can say: WTH happened.
