One of my favorites is to put the word "FREE" in my ad, increases CTR by about 300%. Opt-in for the freeby then boom on my list

Whats everyones opinions on Yahoo vs Adwords vs MSN vs anyone else worth mentioning as far as cost effective is involved.

Thats why you get something to give away in exchange for an opt-in

Do you guys feel its better to send the PPC ad straight to the products landing page or onto your landing page first?

      OR

Bypass their landing page altogether and just use yours.

If you are building a list that's great but, as Steven stated there lots of FREE ways to build a list. Unless i'm getting 1-5 cent clicks I use PPC for sales not list building.

To answer your second question, I like to send traffic to my own landing page first so i can give the customer a little bit of a presell or possibly more than one product option.

Well my FREE offer always directly relates to the paid affiliate offer.

So i get a list and some sales revenue

          Best of both worlds

I have found that my highest converting and CTR's come from having the keyword appear in the ad.

That is why for each keyword i have a different ad. And yes some of my campaigns have a 1000 keywords or more so that is alot of ads.

Or the Rubber Neck effect has always worked well for CTR's as well:
For example using the word "Warning!"

For some reason people just want to click on it just like they slow down on the interstate to look at a wreck.

Oh....and if you are not testing two ads against each other an deleting the loser each day, then you are leaving money on the table.

I'd rather just directly close the deal on the paid offer rather than put people through a freebie. Conversion rate has always been better that way. No sense paying per click to build a list full of people looking for freebies when you can build a list of pre-qualified buyers instead.

Advertise the word "free" and you're going to get a list with lots of people looking for free stuff.

              I agree Steven,

not only that but Google are not big fans of the word "free" in ads in most cases either. If you are offering a free 30 day trial, or a free sample of a product , and they are genuine offers, which many business to business or software companies do, then yes it can be effective, but to just put free in the title of the ad for the sake of it, is not usually a smart move on Google search. You can get a high CTR by making sure the keyword search and the ad are relevant, there is no need to use free at that stage. You can offer a free report or guide on a landing page, but in the ad, you do risk a large number of unqualified click happy looky loos wasting your ad budget.

I try to avoid putting "FREE" in my ads. I like my PAID ads to drive sales directly, rather than using paid ads to build a list. There are lots and lots and lots of FREE ways to build a list... I save the paid ads for high-performing revenue generators.

Cool, I need to start doing this ASAP!

So, is there a particular wordpress theme or plug in that you use for freebie offer and opt in? And free themes?

Just look around for scripts... maybe go to rent-a-coder and pay someone to write you a script.

a majority of plugins for wordpress are crap when it comes to optins etc
