Just wanna ask, in new SEO..number of links to be acquired in a month should be minimal right? but for image submission.. is it okay to have around 100+links will be acquired in a month(solely for image submission)? considering repeat process every week.

Why minimal? And why are you going to build hundreds and hundreds of links to someone else's site? Planning on spam links?

Spam links is what I actually avoid. Just to be clear 100 links is not only to one site but to different imge submission sites. Like in 1 site I'll have 12links in a month. Submission is done 3times in a week. Would that be okay or considered as spam?

    You're doing it wrong.

Don't build links to image sites/pages.

Host the image yourself & build followed keyword anchor-text links pointing directly at the image URL, not the webpage.

      What do you mean wrong?

Host the image yourself & build followed keyword anchor-text links pointing directly at the image URL, not the webpage.
      - that is actually I am doing, 12links in a month are anchor-text links from image submission site

I think it's a confusion between the term submission and sharing, right? Perhaps the right term that'll be using is 'sharing' not submission.

        • Are the backlinks followed?
        • Do the backlink pages have their own backlink profiles?

Just building links from pages that don't have their own link profile isn't going to rank anything competitive on the SERPs.

Yes, they do. My concern is the number of backlinks that'll be created in a month. Let's say I have 1 image to be shared in 1 site 3 times a week, equivalent to 12links in a month. And I also share that to other sites as well with same velocity, would that considered as spam?

You're not going build backlinks too fast.

Images don't usually require much link building because most folks either don't care about ranking images or don't understand how to build links to rank the images.

Something as few as a dozen quality/followed links would be overkill for an average longtail keyword/image. Now If it's an extremely competitive keyword, sure you'll need to do some serious link building but still far less link building than ranking a webpage.

Edit: I guess you're trying to rank images.

Yes, there's confusion. Your first posts sounds like you're going to post images on image sharing sites and creating backlinks to the sharing site image.

As Yukon said, don't worry about how many, worry about getting good ones.

    So....is it just me?

When I need an image...yeah I search for it and take the image.

I imagine most people could care less about the site,
but want the image. No need to even visit your page.

Ranking images seems to be futile, unless it gets
people to your page for some benefit.

Sometimes I search for images on purpose, knowing
I will visit the page. Normally for how-to's or
something. I do the image search because I am
looking for a specific item to be made. Search for
the image, then go to the site knowing I have
exactly what I need. If I just wanted an image,
    I'd search and steal...er...grab.
