If I'm trying to build backlinks to my website that sells a product, is it best to link directly to the main url of the site or can I use an affiliate link?

Do affiliate links count as backlinks?

I have just started a new blog which is related to the niche of my product and so I'm just wondering whether to put my affiliate link when I link to the product or the main url for my product?

Recently one of the affiliate management software vendor released a module that creates affiliates links static and search engine friendly. So I guess it would be worth to have links like http;//www.yoursite.com/affid/xxx , yoursite.copm gets backlinks.

Yes I realise it is backlinks pointing into your site. I have a blog that is related to the niche of my site but is a completely different url to my site. I will be linking to my product site from my blog.

So I'm building backlinks to my product website coming from my blog.

So if they do count as backlinks then I will use my affiliate link as I don't want my referred % to be low if I make all the sales from the direct url.

That's how AdultFriendFinders became so popular. In the old days (probably even today but I am out of Adult Site Business so I don't know the scenario in that niche), their affiliates were spamming all over the web and the NNTP newsgroups.

      hi,

See, what happens affiliate links are scripted links so if you are linking that links to your blog then it will not be count as a backlink but on the other side if you are linking to your blog by direct link that is the URL of the site then it will count as a backlink.

      Thanks!!

See, if you are having direct link of your URL then it will count as a Backlink not affiliate link.

As, affiliate links are javascripted or Phpscripted, so Google Crawler dont read such URLs that is why it will not count as backlink.

      Thanks!!

Exactly...affiliate links especially on Google is a backlink failure formula for sure.
