Do you seriously think Google can translate text but but their algo can't figure out it's the same text in multiple languages?

    Say hello to Supplemental SERPs.

What if manual translation matches the same as Google Translate one? Have you ever experimented with getting penalized by Google while using this technique? Do you know of anyone? Any official Google post to read with deeper details on this? What if I use some other tool for translating besides Google Translate?

      Thanks

Writing in different languages will not get around dup content issues.

I haven't read such things that they could hurt, but I don't think this will be a duplicated content as some websites have at least a few language translations for different users... But what's your idea, having a blog in different languages???

I'm not an expert, but I've read somewhere that it's safe.
Technically is not the same content (I guess).

There you go again, ruining a perfect day with logic and accurate information. Tsk, tsk, tsk!

    Google translate? Dupe content?

You have GOT to be kidding.

Google translate aside, every big site in the world
has the same thing in many languages.

Wikipedia, for example, has the same thing,
different websites, in virtually every language
    on the planet.

I have asked before of some of you live on THIS planet.

    It's still up for debate.

The wikipedia entries are completely different in each language, different content, different length and often even a different setup of the page. Wikipedia in different languages is usually written by different authors.
There are even different rules about the content, phrases like "the sleepy village of" which can be found in the English version would never make it to a German version.

Big companies have human translated content in their different websites. not machine translated which is a huge difference.

As for google translate, I did this 2 or three years back. the translated content did NOT rank in automatic translated version. After a year, I went through 400+ pages and corrected the machine translation to human translated and they started ranking a few weeks later.

I can not say if the machine translated was penalized, but I can say, that the automated translations are so bad, that they don't offer any value to your reader, if they make sense at all.In my case not a single page was found in the first 200results.
