So i started reading a recent SEO book, im only 1/4 of a way through it, but it said to start writing valuable content 2000 words once per week, i did it and wrote and i guess i optimized for SEO because i used the SEO keywords and titles, it actually got me decent traffic for a week, but i just posted my latest article last night and i got no traffic at all.

I'm trying to avoid promoting my articles, i just want the traffic to grow organically, but if i have to promote i will.

thoughts?

    At least, promote on social.

No need to go for PPC yet. Optimize your conversions through organic ways, but still distribute the content that you make.

The guideline: Spend 80% of your time distributing your content and 20% producing it.

If you built great content, but no one saw it, does it matter? If you built little amount of content, but many people see it...

Throw the book in the trash.

Counting words isn't SEO and isn't going to rank a page.

What you experienced was the Google honeymoon.

Duplicate content confuses search engines. Visitors to your site may be happy with articles – but Google is likely furrowing its digital brow at the masses of copy taken verbatim from elsewhere around the net.
