How to target specific keywords?

by 14 comments
Hello, I am new to SEO and was wondering how to target the keywords I want to rank for. For example, if i wanted to target 'Buy iphone cheap' how would I go about it? I know you have to have the keywords in your website content and also in your domain but is there any other way to target specific keywords? Say if I wanted to target 10 different keywords, how would i make sure i was ranking for all 10?

Sorry for the newb question - we all start somewhere I guess

First of all you have to be strategic. Find the targeted Countries and regions of Keywords. Then you should make the competitors list and analyse how they use keywords, meta description, urls etc. And make necessary changes in on-page seo if needed, after that you can target the keywords by submitting your site in high pr sites. take update regularly using analytics and plan according to it

Just use that particular word in title and description too and than starts doing off page activities for the same word.

Targeting specific keywords needs a little analysis of the market & the usage of the keywords as well. You need to check which keyword is less competitive & which is more. The location you are targeting must be less competitive so that it can help you to promote your business easily. Google Adwords is the tool that can assist you to check the keywords & to target your audience easily.

Choosing the right target keywords builds the foundation for a complete SEO campaign. If the right keywords with the maximum potential for return are not selected, the foundation of the campaign will be weak and, therefore, success is nearly impossible. Many target keywords checker tools are available you can select one of them.

Start your campaign from narrowing the keyword list down and selecting the areas you are willing to target for: run a keyword research to see how competitive the keywords are in selected regions, how much they are searched for, analyze the top performing pages for your keywords to see if it`s worth the hassle (if you can possibly outrank them in the long-run). Analyze competitors keyword usage closely as well.

Once you have the list, you may stick to various tactics: use the keywords in URL/title/description/main content of each page, just remember that the content should look natural and not overstuffed, ideally you should focus on 2-3 keywords per page and support them contextually.

Search engine keywords are key phrases and words in website content that make it possible for people to find your website through search engines. Keywords for search engine optimization should be able to connect searcher to your website, and for you to choose the perfect keywords you need to know how people are searching for the information or services that your website is offering. You need to make sure that your search engine optimization keywords are relevant to your target audience and well organized for use so they will be useful to your website visitors. Choose keywords that will make your website meet the needs of its potential viewers.for example is you use keyword 'contentmart' it should show all contentmart's sites be it website, freelance writing site, blog site etc

To target all 10 keywords, dedicate an inner page of your site to each keyword. Then optimize that page for it's given keyword. Once the page is properly optimized, you should start building backlinks to each of the pages, using the targeted keywords (and some variations) as anchor text.

Remember that search engines rank individual pages, not whole websites. If you have ten phrases you want to target, make sure you have ten pages that target one of those specific pages. Read this article that we recently posted to our blog - How to Achieve Perfect On-Page SEO.

Type your target keyword in the Google keyword tool. You are looking for two things. First, find variations of your target keyword, especially long-tail keywords. Second, look at the competition for each of those keywords. You will use this data later.

Doing quick keyword research gives you a better idea of how difficult your keyword is and what other options you have.
