New Campaign Tips Please?

Do you usually put 1 keyword in and let it run for 24hrs before adding more?
if not, how many do you usually put in one adgroup max?

Second do you always put it in ALL of the 3 ways i.e

brown dogs
[brown dogs]
"brown dogs"

    Hi roley,

    I recommend leaving the broad match out or test it in a separate ad group. You often will need lots of negative match keywords to go along with your broad match keywords.

    Keep your Ad groups as tight as possible, with just the phrase and exact match versions of a single keyword.

    Add as many ad groups as you want. There is no reason to delay except to keep your workload manageable.

      I also recommend keeping it at one keyword/phrase per ad group.

      It makes it easier to create a targeted keyword landing page.

      You should also use your keyword in the title or body of the ad.
      If it matches the search term, Google will highlight the match and
      you will get better click through rates.

        So do you mean if my campaign was JOBS and I set up 1 adgroup i would just put in that one ad group

        jobs
        "jobs'
        [jobs]

        Then go create another adgroup for my next keyword? like

        computer jobs
        "computer jobs"
        [computer jobs]

        Dang that could take a long time if i have 1000 keywords, that would be 1000 adgroups 1 for each keyword

        First.. is the above correct?
        Second how many adgroups can you have per campaign?
        Third if that is correct how can i do it faster?

          IT should be in the way to get right format which the campaign accepts. It takes more than 3 words some time,so create an title for a campaign which gives best results.

          It will be very difficult to get great quality scores for 1000 different keyword phrases for the same product.

          When it comes to PPC, it is the quality of the keyword not the quantity
          that matters.

          Gone are the days when you could write an ad and add thousands of keywords and hope for the best.

          Unless you have a huge advertising budget, you need to be very targeted
          with your keyword/ad groups.

          Using generic keywords like "job" or even "computer job" is not very effective.

          You would need a ton of negative keywords to prevent your ad from showing up for the wrong types of job searches.

          Make your keyword phrase as detailed as possible.

          like "Programming Jobs in Saint Louis" or "senior Level .net expert"

          You will get less matches but the quality of the traffic will be much more targeted.

          Go through your list and pick out a dozen or two phrase that are both targeted and best describe your product.

          Once you get these keywords going, you can turn your attention to more on your list.

          I am not sure if there is a limit to the number of ad groups you can create. I have never hit a limit personally.

          I have not found an effective way to speed things up. To do it correctly, you need to have a careful balance between the keyword/phrase, the ad and the landing page. I do not know of an automated solution that can do all of that.

    Roley, put your broad match, exact match and phrase match in their own adgroups. One keyword per ad group and as many ads as you like, split test the ads and remove those that don't perform too well. Reason to add them into their own adgroup is they affect each other, if you have a CTR of 1% for broad match, 2% for phrase match and 3% for exact match, your overall CTR average is 2%, this effects how much you pay. So keeping them in their own adgroup will help keep costs down to a minimum.

    After you have found your winning keyword and advert, create a new campaign, pause the other, and start with the winning ones, why? cos your old campaign overall CTR score also affects the amount you pay too.
