Looking for any experts to guide me on this. I am promoting some products with so so success, 2 - 4 sales per week, nothing fantasy but this is on search and content network on adword default mode.

I am intending to set up a content only campaign. I did some searching and found out with content network it is theme biase. Theme, how do you classify it ? I will just list some stuff from what i understand, pls correct me if im wrong, even if im totally wrong. example acne cream.

The themes that i came up with are cure, cause, effects .... with acne as positive word.

Theme -------- Keywords
cure----------- natural acne cure, acne cure treatment, acne cure naturally etc
cause---------- acne causes, cause of acne, causes of acne
effects -------- effects of acne, diet effects acne, skin effects acne

Above is just what i thought as "themes" please let me know if its thats wat it means or did i got it wrong completely. Please advice me as examples if able.

Appreciate your time on this.

When you said you have a default search/content campaign, is that two sep campaigns, or are you running both on one campaign? Cause thats the first problem right there, always, always, always run search and content in seperate campaigns.

But to answer your question yes, content is about themes. so for example:

lets say I was advertising a biz opp, and my campaign theme was Entrepreneurs And Executives. my adgroups would all have to fit into this theme.

    Business Magazines
    Leadership
    Business Travel
    HeadHunters
    Executives
    Commuting
    Entrepreneur
    etc...

Would all fit under that theme. Hope this helps

I would not be using the content network for your niche (assuming it is the acne niche), you are better of sticking with having your ads placed on the SERPS. Additionally I would look at using Yahoo for advertising, you are gonna find you can get much cheaper clicks.

      Thanks Tim for the advice.
Simpleadssense, im not promoting acne .... using it as an example only. Acne too competitive as least imo.
      Thanks anyway.

You are on the right track for your themes but that example you gave is a very tight theme. Find out some other terminology people use for "the cause of acne". "What causes pimples" for example and add these to the fray - you want to find the related search terms to a theme.

By using other terms you create more of a theme and less of a group of similiar phrases.

    Also look at demographic themes.
