Ok i thought i understood keyword seo then i got confused again.

So, I have targeted my key word phrase, i got a domain name based on it And i'm currently building a blog based on that name. all made sense and i was happy.

ok so i have also identified other keywords in the same area, should i target specific posts about them? It would make sense too.

the section i'm confused with is, how do spiders handle backlinks and domain name aimed at one keyword and posts targetted at another.

As I mentioned all the keywords are in a similar group as identified by google keywords tool .

I guess my main issue would be if a targetted keyword wasn't on that list I would be better building a second blog to specifically target that area.

thanks for your wisdom and advice

IMHO, focus on the keywords that would get you the most traffic. I know Adwords is kinda off if you wanna know how much traffic a specific phrase is getting, but if you look for exact phrase, you`re probably not THAT far off.. Cuz you dont have to target EVERY phrase you wanna rank for; on several of my sites I rank for MANY phrases I would never think of targeting. In short, you dont have to target ALL the words you want to rank for, focus on the highest traffic.
Later on, when you`re ranking for the words you`ve targeted, THEN I would have a look at other keywords. Maybe you`re on #1 for the words without even knowing.

Well the main part of SEO for on page optimization is the title tag, H1, description tag and the alt tag. These are the few that will help you rank well in SEO.

You will also need to focus on the related topics as your blog post so that you can drive target traffic to your blog.
